Taylor Gontineac (born 16 July 2000) is a French-born Romanian rugby union rugby player who is the son of former Romania Rugby legend and former captain Romeo Gontineac. He plays as a centre for professional Top 14 club ASM Clermont Auvergne`s espoirs. Club career Taylor Gontineac started playing rugby in his hometown of Aurillac for local teams influenced by his father Romeo Gontineac. Aurillac
Aurillac (; oc, Orlhac ) is the prefecture of the Cantal department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of France. The inhabitants of the commune are known as ''Aurillacois'' or ''Aurillacoises''. Geography Aurillac is at above sea level and located at the foot of the Cantal mountains in a small Sedimentary basin. The city is built on the banks of the Jordanne, a tributary of the Cère. It is south of Paris and north of Toulouse. Aurillac was part of a former Auvergne province called Haute-Auvergne and is only away from the heart of the Auvergne Volcano Park. Access to the commune is by numerous roads including the D922 from Naucelles in the north, the D17 from Saint-Simon in the north-east, Route nationale N122 from Polminhac in the east which continues to Sansac-de-Marmiesse in the south-west, the D920 to Arpajon-sur-Cère in the south-east, and the D18 to Ytrac in the west. Romeo Gontineac
Romeo Ștefan Gontineac (born 18 December 1973 in Hlipiceni, Botoşani) is a Romanian rugby union coach and former player who played as a centre. He currently coaches Aurillac. Gontineac played for Universitatea Cluj (1993–96) in Romania, South Western Districts (1996), in South Africa. He moved to France, where he played for FC Grenoble (1996–97), Section Paloise (1997–98) and Aurillac (1998–2010), where he finished his playing career. Gontineac has 76 caps for Romania, with 13 tries scored, 68 points in aggregate. He played all the matches for Romania in four Rugby World Cup finals, in 1995, 1999, 2003 and 2007. He also captained his country on several occasions. In May 2010, he was appointed as head coach of the Romanian national team replacing Serge Lairle of France. Gontineac called upon the services of former All Blacks Steve McDowall to be his assistant coach in the qualifyings for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. The Top 14 () is a professional rugby union club competition that is played in France. Created in 1892, the Top 14 is at the top of the national league system operated by the French National Rugby League, also known by its French initialism of LNR. There is promotion and relegation between the Top 14 and the next level down, the Rugby Pro D2. The fourteen best rugby teams in France participate in the competition, hence the name Top 14. The competition was previously known as the Top 16.
