The following is a list of characters that first appeared in the BBC soap opera ''EastEnders'' in 2017, by order of first appearance. All characters are introduced by the show's executive producer Sean O'Connor or, from 27 November, his successor as executive consultant, John Yorke. The first character to be introduced was Keegan Baker ( Zack Morris), a friend of Shakil Kazemi (Shaheen Jafargholi), followed by Emerald Fox (Doña Croll), the mother of Denise Fox (Diane Parish) and Kim Fox-Hubbard (Tameka Empson). William Boyde
William Boyde (born March 1953) is a British actor, best known for his work on the British soap opera ''EastEnders'' (1986–1989, 1992, 2017). He was educated at Cheltenham College where he appeared as an extra in the film If...which was filmed at the school. His character James Willmott-Brown became one of the soap's most renowned villains after raping barmaid Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) in 1988, and then terrorizing her in 1992. In September 2017, Boyde made an unannounced return to ''EastEnders'' and eventually departed on 28 December at the conclusion of his storyline - in which he was revealed as the boss of Max Branning (Jake Wood) in their vengeful plot to destroy the square. James Willmott-Brown
James Willmott-Brown (also credited as Willmott-Brown and Mr Willmott-Brown) is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera '' EastEnders'', played by William Boyde. The character originally appeared in Albert Square from 1986 to 1989, where he established the square's second pub – "The Dagmar" – and instigated a feud with his business rival Den Watts ( Leslie Grantham). Willmott-Brown then developed a romantic obsession with his employee Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth), which sparked the events of the character raping her in 1988. Eddie Eyre
Eddie Eyre (born Eddie Wilson on 24 July 1988) is a British actor who is known for his role in ''EastEnders'' as Josh Hemmings. Education Eyre was educated at Abingdon School from 1999 to 2006. He was trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Linda Henry
Linda Varilis (''née'' Henry; born 24 August 1959) is an English actress. She is known for her roles as Yvonne Atkins in the ITV drama '' Bad Girls'' and Shirley Carter in the BBC soap opera ''EastEnders'', a role she has played since 2006. She had previously appeared in ''EastEnders'' as the original Lorraine Salter, the mother of Mandy Salter (Nicola Stapleton) from 1991 to 1992.
