Taylor Downing
Taylor Downing (born 20 July 1953) is a British historian and television producer. He studied at Latymer Upper School and Christ's College, Cambridge, Christ's College, Cambridge University, where he achieved a British undergraduate degree classification#Variations of First Class honours, Double First in History. He worked at the Imperial War Museum and then for Thames Television for several years. In 1982, he formed a production company Flashback Television, for which he produced more than 300 TV documentaries for British and American broadcasters including several long-running series which have won many awards. He has recently written several popular history books. A television producer is a person who oversees one or more aspects of video production on a television show, television program. Some producers take more of an executive role, in that they conceive new programs and pitch them to the television networks, but upon acceptance they focus on business matters, such as budgets and contracts. Christ's College, Cambridge
Christ's College is a constituent college of the University of Cambridge. The college includes the Master, the Fellows of the College, and about 450 undergraduate and 170 graduate students. The college was founded by William Byngham in 1437 as God's House. In 1505, the college was granted a new royal charter, was given a substantial endowment by Lady Margaret Beaufort, and changed its name to Christ's College, becoming the twelfth of the Cambridge colleges to be founded in its current form. The British undergraduate degree classification system is a grading structure for undergraduate degrees or bachelor's degrees and integrated master's degrees in the United Kingdom. The Pushkin House Book Prize is an annual book prize, awarded to the best non-fiction writing on Russia in the English language. The prize was inaugurated in 2013. The Royal Historical Society, founded in 1868, is a learned society of the United Kingdom which advances scholarly studies of history.
