The taxicabs of Mexico are a common form of transportation in most cities of the country. Taxicabs in Mexico tend to have very low fares compared to that in more economically developed countries. There are more than 140,000 taxicabs in Mexico City, making it one of the largest taxicab fleets in the world. History Modern taxicabs in the country had their origin in 1970 when the government took measures to give Mexico City an affordable taxi transport. Instead of the big cars used through the '50s and '60s, the Volkswagen Sedán (Beetle type 1) was the car selected to serve as taxicabs. They were colored with yellow panels and white roofs. A taxi, also known as a taxicab or simply a cab, is a type of vehicle for hire with a driver, used by a single passenger or small group of passengers, often for a non-shared ride. The Institutional Revolutionary Party ( es, Partido Revolucionario Institucional, ; abbr. Volkswagen Beetle In Mexico
The Volkswagen Beetle was introduced to Mexico in March 1954, inside the exhibition "Alemania y su Industria" (Germany and its Industry). Four different Volkswagen vehicles were brought to Mexico through Veracruz City for the first time. Those vehicles were: two Sedans ''113'' in "Export" trim, a convertible, and a VW Bus in luxury trim. Officially, the Bug/Beetle was named "Type I sedan" and the Bus was named "Type II station wagon", though variants included single and double cab pickups. At that time, the Mexican car market was mostly characterized by American makes and models with large sizes and large engines, which made a huge contrast with the new German entrant. Matchbox (brand)
Matchbox is a popular toy brand which was introduced by Lesney Products in 1953, and is now owned by Mattel, Inc, which purchased the brand in 1997. The brand was given its name because the original die-cast "Matchbox" toys were sold in boxes similar to those in which matches were sold. The brand grew to encompass a broad range of toys, including larger scale die-cast models, plastic model kits, slot car racing, and action figures. During the 1980s, Matchbox began to switch to the more conventional plastic and cardboard "blister packs" that were used by other die-cast toy brands such as Hot Wheels. The Ford Mondeo I (first generation) is a mid-size car that was produced by Ford, beginning on 23 November 1992, with sales beginning on 22 March 1993. The Dodge Stratus is a mid-size car that was introduced by Dodge in December 1994 and was based on the 4-door sedan Chrysler JA platform.
