Tawfik Khatib ( ar, توفيق خطيب, he, תאופיק ח'טיב; born 21 April 1954) is a former Israeli Arab politician who served as a member of the Knesset for the United Arab List and the Arab National Party between 1996 and 2003. Biography Born in Jaljulia, Khatib studied political science at Bar-Ilan University, gaining a BA. He went on to study Islamic culture, writing his MA thesis on ancient taxation. Jaljulia ( ar, جلجولية, he, גַ׳לְג׳וּלְיָה), officially also spelled Jaljulye, is an Arab town in Israel near Kfar Saba. In it had a population of . History In Roman times the village was known as ''Galgulis'', while during the Crusader period it was referred to as ''Jorgilia'' in 1241 C.E. It has been suggested that a Crusader sugar factory was later turned into an Ottoman mosque. In 1265 C.E. (663 H) Sultan Baybars allocated equal shares of the village to three of his amirs. One of these, amir ''Badr al-Din Baktash al-Fakri'', included his section of the village in a waqf he established. Excavations of a building close to the Mamluk khan yielded ceramics dating from that period. Meretz
Meretz ( he, מֶרֶצ, ) is a left-wing political party in Israel. The party was formed in 1992 by the merger of Ratz, Mapam and Shinui, and was at its peak between 1992 and 1996 when it had 12 seats. It currently has no seats in the Knesset, following its failure to pass the electoral threshold in the 2022 elections. Beit Berl College is a multi-disciplinary academic college for higher education located in Beit Berl in the Sharon region of Israel. It is one of the oldest colleges in Israel.
