Tavis Knoyle
Tavis Knoyle (born 2 June 1990 in Pontneddfechan, Vale of Neath, Wales) is a Wales international rugby union footballer who plays at scrum-half. He is a fluent Welsh speaker. Club career After a youth career at home town club Glynneath RFC, he made his senior debut at Neath RFC, and made his Celtic League debut with Ospreys in April 2009. After impressing with Wales Under 20 squad, he joined the Scarlets at the start of the 2009/10 campaign, scoring his first try for the Scarlets in a victory over Ulster, and was awarded the Magners League Man of the Match. On 16 May 2013, Knoyle signed to join English side Gloucester in the Aviva Premiership on a two-year contract, joining former Scarlets coach Nigel Davies who had been appointed Director of Rugby at the Kingsholm Stadium in June 2012. Pontneddfechan, also known as Pontneathvaughan (pronounced ) ("bridge over the Little Neath" in Welsh) is the southernmost village in the county of Brecknockshire, Wales, within the Vale of Neath, in the community of Ystradfellte and in the principal area of Powys. Wales National Rugby Sevens Team
The Wales national rugby sevens team competes in the World Rugby Sevens Series, the Rugby World Cup Sevens and in the Commonwealth Games. Wales were the World Cup Sevens Champions after winning the 2009 Rugby World Cup Sevens in the United Arab Emirates. But they relinquished that title after failing to defend their crown at the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Moscow. The Welsh sevens squad was disbanded by the Welsh Rugby Union due to financial constraints. After a three-year absence, the Wales sevens team returned to international competition in the 2006–07 season. They competed at half of the eight tournaments and won the plate competition (fifth place) at each of them. They repeated this feat at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. British And Irish Cup
The British and Irish Cup was an annual rugby union competition for second tier, semi-professional clubs and the reserves or developing teams from professional clubs from Great Britain and Ireland. It took place for the first time in the 2009–10 season, and ran for 9 seasons. After clubs from the English Championship decided to withdraw from the 2018-19 season, the competition was abolished. The Welsh and Irish rugby unions thereafter reinstituted the Celtic Cup competition for its development sides. Leinster A and Munster A were the most successful sides in the competition, winning the trophy twice each. Five English clubs shared the remaining competition wins. Cardiff Rugby ( cy, Rygbi Caerdydd) are one of the four professional Welsh rugby union teams. They compete in the United Rugby Championship and in European Professional Club Rugby competitions. Kingsholm Stadium
Kingsholm Stadium is a rugby union stadium located in the Kingsholm area of Gloucester, England, and is the home stadium of Gloucester Rugby. The stadium has a capacity of 16,115. It is sometimes nicknamed 'Castle Grim', after the estate where the stadium is built. The new main grandstand, opened in 2007, is an all-seated 7,500 capacity stand along the south touchline. It is currently sponsored by Malvern Tyres. Kingsholm was used as a home stadium for England before they settled at Twickenham and also hosted New Zealand versus United States for a pool match in the 1991 Rugby World Cup. Nigel Davies (rugby Player)
Nigel Gareth Davies (born 29 March 1965) is a former Wales international rugby union player, who played his club rugby at Llanelli RFC. His son Sam Davies is a professional rugby union player. Davies was born in Waun y Clun, Trimsaran and as a youth player played for local rugby union club Trimsaran RFC. In his final year of playing for the youth team he was invited by Llanelli RFC to play for them in a friendly match, from which he impressed enough to be selected by the club. Davies played 498 games for Llanelli including nine WRU Challenge Cup finals. Davies was appointed assistant coach to the Wales national team under Gareth Jenkins and was appointed caretaker Head Coach following the departure of Jenkins after the 2007 Rugby World Cup. The United Rugby Championship (URC) is an annual rugby union competition involving professional teams from Ireland, Italy, Scotland, South Africa, and Wales. Welsh ( or ) is a Celtic language family, Celtic language of the Brittonic languages, Brittonic subgroup that is native to the Welsh people.
