Tavertet
Tavertet is a small town located above some cliffs, 900m above sea level, in the area known as Collsacabra, north of the Guilleries, in the ''comarca'' of Osona in Catalonia. Below the cliffs is Pantà de Sau, a reservoir that dammed the waters of the river Ter in the 1960s. Tavertet is nowadays a tourist-oriented town with many holiday homes, where Raimon Panikkar lived. Raimon Panikkar
Raimon Panikkar Alemany, also known as Raimundo Panikkar and Raymond Panikkar (November 2, 1918 – August 26, 2010), was a Spanish Roman Catholic priest and a proponent of Interfaith dialogue. As a scholar, he specialized in comparative religion. Early life and education Raimon Panikkar was born to a Spanish Roman Catholic mother and a Hindu Indian father in Barcelona. His mother was well-educated and from the Catalan bourgeoisie. His father, Ramunni Panikkar, belonged to a Malabar Nair family from South India. Panikkar's father was a freedom fighter during British colonial rule in India, who later escaped from Britain and married into a Catalan family. Panikkar's father studied in England and was the representative of a German chemical company in Barcelona. Educated at a Jesuit school, Panikkar studied chemistry and philosophy at the universities of Barcelona, Bonn and Madrid, and Catholic theology in Madrid and Rome. Osona () is a comarca situated in Catalonia, Northeast Spain. Its capital is Vic. Its population in 2001 was 129,543. Osona covers roughly the same area as the historic Catalan county of Osona. Guilleries
The Guilleries Massif (Catalan ''Les Guilleries'') is a mountain system located at the apex of the Catalan Transversal Range and the Pre-Coastal Range. The highest point of the range is Sant Miquel de Solterra or Sant Miquel de les Formigues (1.204 m), other main peaks are Turó del Faig Verd (1,187 m), Rocallarga (1,187 m), Sant Benet (1,149 m), El Far (1,111 m), Sant Gregori (1 ,094 m), Montdois (930 m), L'Agullola (921 m) and Turó del Castell (851 m) The Guilleries is one of the few places in the Catalan Mediterranean System where amphibolite facies conditions are found. Vilanova De Sau
Vilanova de Sau is a town in the ''comarca'' of the Osona in Catalonia, eastern Spain. It is situated in the valley called Sau. The Ter river runs through the valley, now dammed into Pantà de Sau, a reservoir which is in the municipal territory of Vilanova de Sau, and is a tourist attraction and base for water sports and hiking. Rupit i Pruit () is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of Osona in Catalonia, Spain situated in the Sierra de la Cabrera mountain range near Barcelona.
