A sounding rocket or rocketsonde, sometimes called a research rocket or a suborbital rocket, is an instrument-carrying rocket designed to take measurements and perform scientific experiments during its sub-orbital flight. Minotaur-C (''Minotaur Commercial''), formerly known as Taurus or Taurus XL, is a four Multistage rocket, stage solid rocket , solid fueled launch vehicle built in the United States by Orbital Sciences Corporation, Orbital Sciences (now Northrop Grumman) and launched from SLC-576E at California's Vandenberg Air Force Base.
