Tauromagia
''Tauromagia'' is a 1988 flamenco album by virtuoso guitarist Manolo Sanlúcar. The album was extremely well received by the flamenco community and it is considered to be one of the best flamenco albums of all time. Background Sanlúcar was influenced by Taurus in thinking of the concept for the ''Tauromagia'' album, which means "magic of bulls", paying homage to classical Spanish bullfighting. Manolo Sanlúcar
Manolo Sanlúcar (born Manuel Muñoz Alcón, 24 November 1943 – 27 August 2022) was a Spanish flamenco composer and guitarist. He was considered one of the most important Spanish composers of recent times, and together with Paco de LucÃa, Tomatito, and Vicente Amigo, one of the main figures in the evolution of the flamenco guitar. Sanlúcar's teacher was his father, Isidro Sanlúcar, a baker and old-style guitarist, who frequently came home with people who were fond of cante and playing; from his childhood he was exceptionally skilled to follow in his steps. His brothers also decided on the same vocation, among them Isidro. Sanlúcar soon began to research, aware that the guitar had infinite possibilities that had hardly been explored. The most ambitious of his contributions to the art was his constant striving to integrate flamenco in symphonic music. Vicente Amigo
Vicente Amigo Girol (born 25 March 1967) is a Spanish flamenco composer and guitarist, born in Guadalcanal near Seville. He has played as an accompanying guitarist on recordings by flamenco singers Camarón de la Isla, and Luis de Córdoba, and he has acted as a producer for Remedios Amaya and José Mercé. His album ''Ciudad de las Ideas'' won the 2001 Latin Grammy for the Best Flamenco Album and the 2002 Ondas award for the best Flamenco work. Biography Amigo was raised in Córdoba, where he took guitar lessons and later improved his playing with Manolo Sanlúcar, with whom he worked for ten years. After a period of accompaniment which began with El Pele, he devoted himself almost exclusively to playing concerts in 1988. Bull (mythology)
Cattle are prominent in some religions and mythologies. As such, numerous peoples throughout the world have at one point in time honored bulls as sacred. In the Sumerian religion, Marduk is the "bull of Utu". In Hinduism, Shiva's steed is Nandi, the Bull. The sacred bull survives in the constellation Taurus. José Mercé (born José Soto Soto in 1955 in Jerez de la Frontera) is a Spanish flamenco singer. As a 12-year-old he performed at flamenco festivals. Later he moved to Madrid where he recorded his first album in 1968. Family He is the great-grandson of nineteenth-century seguiriya maestro Francisco Valencia, whose nickname was Paco la Luz. Rondeña
A Rondeña is a ''palo'' or musical form of flamenco originating in the town of Ronda in the province of Málaga in Spain. In common with other ''palos'' originating in Málaga, the rondeña antedated flamenco proper and became incorporated into it during the 19th century. History The rondeña has its origin in the '' fandango malagueño'' and it is said that it is "the oldest fandango actually known". A capo (short for ''capodastro'', ''capo tasto'' or ''capotasto'' , Italian for "head of fretboard") , ''capo'' or ''capodastro''; french: capodastre; german: Kapodaster; pt, capotraste; sh, kapodaster; el, καποτάστο, kapotásto. is a device a musician uses on the neck of a stringed (typically fretted) instrument to transpose and shorten the playable length of the strings—hence raising the pitch. Tremolo
In music, ''tremolo'' (), or ''tremolando'' (), is a trembling effect. There are two types of tremolo.
