Tatyana Karakashyants
Tatyana Maximovna Karakashyants (née Vereina, later Karakashyants and Petrukhina; russian: Татьяна Максимовна Каракашьянц, December 21, 1925 – October 13, 2004) was a Soviet diver and diving coach. She competed in the 10 m platform at the 1952 and 1956 Summer Olympics and finished in sixth and fifth place, respectively. She won this event at the 1954 European Aquatics Championships. After retiring from competitive diving, she worked as a diving coach in sports society Spartak. She was an Honored Coach of the Soviet Union. Among her students were Vladimir Vasin, Nataliya Lobanova and Yelena Miroshina. Kursk ( rus, Курск, p=ˈkursk) is a city and the administrative center of Kursk Oblast, Russia, located at the confluence of the Kur, Tuskar, and Seym rivers. The area around Kursk was the site of a turning point in the Soviet–German struggle during World War II and the site of the largest tank battle in history. Geography Urban layout Kursk was originally built as a fortress city, on a hill dominating the plain. The settlement was surrounded on three sides by steep cliffs and rivers. From the west, the Kur river, from the south and east, the Tuskar river, and from the north, forest thickets approached it. Yelena Miroshina
Yelena Nikolaevna Miroshina (russian: Елена Николаевна Мирошина, 5 June 1974 – 18 December 1995) was a Russian diver, best known for twice winning the gold medal at the European Championships in the 10 m platform, and winning Olympic silver in 1992, where in the final she progressed from 8th place after 4 jumps to second. Miroshina competed in two consecutive Summer Olympics, and represented two countries: the Soviet Union (1988) and the Unified Team (1992). She was affiliated with Spartak during her career. Miroshina was the youngest participant among the 89 (49 men and 40 women) competitors from 31 countries at the Seoul Games, with 14 years and 105 days. Miroshina retired from competitions in 1995. The same year she was found dead under the windows of her apartment in Moscow. She was pregnant at the time of her death. The cause of death remains unknown. Vladimir Vasin
Vladimir Alexeyevich Vasin (russian: Владимир Алексеевич Васин; born 9 January 1947) is a former Soviet diver and Olympic champion. He competed at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, where he received a gold medal in ''springboard''. In 1989–1991 Vasin was the chairman of the All-Russian Olympic Committee. In 1991, after the USSR collapsed, the Soviet Olympic Committee ceased to exist, and the All-Russian Olympic Committee became an independent organization and was renamed the Russian Olympic Committee. In February 1992, Vladimir Vasin resigned from his post, and Vitali Smirnov, the last chairman of the Soviet Olympic Committee, succeeded him.
