Tattooed Millionaire (song)
"Tattooed Millionaire" is the first single from Bruce Dickinson's debut solo album, ''Tattooed Millionaire''. It was released on 11 April 1990. "Tattooed Millionaire" reached number 18 on the UK charts. The promotional video was directed by Storm Thorgerson. According to ''Ultimate Classic Rock'', the song is about "celebrity tabloid rockers". A 1990 review published in '' The Georgia Straight'', says the song ''takes a not-so-subtle stab at the excesses of the L.A. rock ’n’ roll lifestyle, particularly that led by Vince Neil and his Motley gang''. Nikki Sixx has stated that the song is about him, inspired by Dickinson's then-wife cheating on him with Sixx and then Dickinson finding out about it after reading ''The Dirt'', though that is doubtful since "Tattooed Millionaire" was released eleven years before ''The Dirt'' was published. Bruce Dickinson
Paul Bruce Dickinson (born 7 August 1958) is an English singer who has been the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Iron Maiden from 1981 to 1993 and 1999–present. He is known for his wide-ranging operatic vocal style and energetic stage presence. Dickinson began his career in music fronting small pub bands in the 1970s while attending school in Sheffield and university in London. In 1979, he joined British new wave heavy metal band Samson, with whom he gained some popularity under the stage name "Bruce Bruce" and performed on two studio records. He left Samson in 1981 to join Iron Maiden, replacing Paul Di'Anno, and debuted on their 1982 album '' The Number of the Beast''. Nikki Sixx (born Frank Carlton Serafino Feranna Jr.; December 11, 1958) is an American musician, best known as the co-founder, bassist, and primary songwriter of the heavy metal band Mötley Crüe. Prior to forming Mötley Crüe, Sixx was a member of Sister before going on to form London with his Sister bandmate Lizzie Grey. Andrew William Carr (born 28 February 1956) is an English former footballer who played as a defender for Port Vale, Northwich Victoria, Nantwich Town, Leek Town, Macclesfield Town and Droylsden. Career Carr graduated through the Port Vale junior side to sign professional forms in November 1973. His only first team appearance for the "Valiants" came at right-back on 9 January 1974 in an FA Cup third round replay at Kenilworth Road, which was lost 4–2 to Luton Town. Janick Robert Gers (; born 27 January 1957) is an English musician who is best known as one of the three guitarists in heavy metal band Iron Maiden. He initially joined to replace Adrian Smith, but remained in the band after Smith rejoined. Gers was previously a member of Gillan and co-founder of the band White Spirit in 1975. Career Gers began his career as the lead guitarist of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal band White Spirit -- appearing on their debut self-titled album in 1980 -- before leaving in 1981 to join Gillan, a group formed by then-former Deep Purple vocalist Ian Gillan. ''Tattooed Millionaire'' is the first solo album by Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson, released in 1990. The album project began when Dickinson was asked to record a song for '' A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child'', and so wrote " Bring Your Daughter... to the Slaughter". Collaborating with future Iron Maiden guitarist Janick Gers, Dickinson began creating a solo album which was fundamentally different from his works with Iron Maiden, with a hard rock sound that is less progressive. "Bring your Daughter..." wasn't included on the original release, as Iron Maiden planned to record an alternate version for their 1990 album ''No Prayer for the Dying'', which went on to become the band's only number one single on the UK Singles Chart to date.
