The Tattersall's Cup Handicap is a Tattersall's Racing Club Group 3 open handicap race for Thoroughbred horses run over a distance of 2,400 metres at Eagle Farm Racecourse, Queensland in June. Total prizemoney is A$200,000. History The inaugural running of the race was in 1924 when Serelot won. During World War II the Tattersall's Race club held the race at Albion Park Racecourse, the only functioning racecourse in Brisbane at the time. The 1987 winner, the New Zealand bred gelding Kensei went on later in the year to win the Melbourne Cup, as did 2019 winner Vow And Declare. Between 1985 and 1987 the race was known as the Castlemaine Gold Cup. Incentivise (foaled 22 October 2016) is a multiple Group One winning Australian thoroughbred racehorse. Background Incentivise was homebred by his owner and original trainer Steve Tregea at his Windermere Stud property in the Darling Downs of southern Queensland. Doomben Racecourse is a horse racing venue in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is located in the suburb of Ascot, 7 kilometres north of the Brisbane central business district. The Doomben course neighbours another thoroughbred venue called the Eagle Farm Racecourse and can be accessed via car, train or bus. Together with Eagle Farm, these courses are considered the two major racecourses in South East Queensland, and can be seen sharing irrigation systems and some of Brisbane Racings feature events. Vow And Declare (foaled 17 October 2015) is an Australian bred thoroughbred racehorse that was the winner of the 2019 Melbourne Cup. Background Vow And Declare was bred by Paul Lanskey, the owner of the broodmare, Geblitzt. Declaration of War sired the horse whilst performing shuttle stallion duties for Coolmore Stud in Australia. Lanskey named the horse after his father's habit of coming home from the pub and saying "I vow and declare I've only had a few beers". At the 2017 Inglis Classic Sale, Vow And Declare had a reserve price of $70,000 however only received a bid of up to $45,000. The horse was therefore retained by breeder Paul Lanskey and ownership was divided by Lanskey and others. The Melbourne Cup is a Thoroughbred horse race held in Melbourne, Australia. It is a 3200-metre race for three-year-olds and over, conducted by the Victoria Racing Club on the Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne, Victoria as part of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.
