Incentivise (foaled 22 October 2016) is a multiple Group One winning Australian thoroughbred racehorse. Background Incentivise was homebred by his owner and original trainer Steve Tregea at his Windermere Stud property in the Darling Downs of southern Queensland. Incentivise's dam, Miss Argyle, has also produced three other Stakes winners, Ardrossan (by Redoute's Choice) winner of the Concorde Handicap in New Zealand; Cheyenne Warrior (by Not A Single Doubt) winner of the Gold Sovereign Stakes in Tasmania and Bergerac (by Drumbeats) winner of the Ipswich Cup. The 2021 Melbourne Cup (known commercially as the 2021 Lexus Melbourne Cup) was the 161st running of the Melbourne Cup, a prestigious Australian Thoroughbred horse race. The race, run over , was held on 2 November 2021 at Melbourne's Flemington Racecourse. The final field for the race was declared on 30 October 2021. Brett Prebble (born 23 September 1977 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia) is a leading Australian jockey, currently based in Melbourne, Victoria. Verry Elleegant (foaled 12 October 2015) is a New Zealand-bred Australian-trained Thoroughbred racehorse that has won 11 Group One races. She was crowned the 2020/2021 Australian Racehorse of the Year, and was the winner of the 2021 Melbourne Cup and 2020 Caulfield Cup. Background Verry Elleegant is out of the New Zealand race mare Opulence, which was owned by her initial trainer, Nick Bishara. After Opulence won two races she was sold at the 2011 Mixed Sale at Karaka to Don Goodwin, who is the owner of Very Elleegant's sire, Zed. The horse was named after Goodwin's granddaughter Ellee. The Caulfield Cup is a Melbourne Racing Club Group 1 Thoroughbred horse race held under handicap conditions, although the Melbourne Racing Club is in the process of turning the race into weight for age (WFA) conditions. Shamus Award (foaled 2010) is an Australian thoroughbred racehorse, and winner of the 2013 Cox Plate. He is notable for being the only horse in the history of the race to win it as a maiden. Shamus Award was sired by Snitzel (horse), Snitzel out of Sunset Express and was trained by Danny O'Brien (racehorse trainer), Danny O'Brien. Early career Shamus Award made his racing debut at Moonee Valley Racecourse on the same day as the 2012 Cox Plate running 3rd in a two year old's race. Nodouble (1965–1990) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. In a career that lasted from 1967 to 1970, he won eleven races from across the country, including the Arkansas Derby, Hawthorne Gold Cup (twice) and the Santa Anita, Brooklyn and Metropolitan Handicaps. He was twice voted American Champion Older Male Horse by the Thoroughbred Racing Association. After retirement to stud, he became the leading sire in North America of 1981 and was also a notable broodmare sire. Luskin Star (1974-2002) was a Thoroughbred racehorse and winner of the Australian two-year-old Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing. Breeding The colt by Kaoru Star out of Promising (NZ) was consigned to the 1976 Sydney Easter Yearling Sales as Lot 734, but was passed in for $6,500 with a reserve of $8,000. He was later purchased by Newcastle trainer Max Lees for stable clients Mr and Mrs John Balcomb, Don Ninnes and Barry Barnett. His sire Kaoru Star was a son of Star Kingdom and grandson of Hyperion.
