Tasker Lowndes Oddie (October 20, 1870 – February 17, 1950) was an American attorney and politician who served as the 12th Governor of Nevada and a United States Senator. He was a member of the Republican Party. Biography Oddie was born on October 20, 1870, in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from New York University Law School with an LL.B. in 1895 and practiced law in New York until 1898, when he moved to Nevada to become the attorney and business agent for the wealthy Stokes family. He joined the Nevada Bar in 1898. Career Oddie moved to and made his fortune in the 1900 silver boom in Tonopah, becoming manager of the Tonopah Mining Company. He was the Nye County District Attorney from 1900 to 1902. He was a member of the Nevada State Senate from 1903 to 1906. William Tasker (1740–1800) was an English clergyman, scholar and poet. He made translations of works of Pindar and Horace. His own poems celebrated the "genius of Britain", which to him was both artistic and military. He was also interested in science, including physiognomy. Life William Tasker was born in 1740 at Iddesleigh, Devon. He was the only son of William Tasker (1708–1772) and Jane Vickries (died 1795). His father was rector of Iddesleigh, Devonshire, from 6 July 1738. He was educated at Barnstaple, then attended Exeter College, Oxford, matriculating on 20 February 1758. He remained there as sojourner and obtained a B.A. on 2 February 1762. On 24 June 1764, he was ordained deacon, and next day was made curate of Monk-Okehampton, near Iddesleigh. Steven Jay Tasker (born April 10, 1962) is an American sports reporter, locally in Western New York on the MSG Western New York cable TV station, and on WGR Radio and formerly for CBS Sports. He is a former football player who was a wide receiver and gunner in the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted in the ninth round (226th overall) of the 1985 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers. Sean Tasker (born 18 June 1968) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Tasker was North Adelaide's leading goal-kicker in 1989 but played as a full-back in their 1991 premiership team. A foundation player at Adelaide, he made his AFL debut in 1991 at the age of 23.
