Tarlan Ahmadov
Tarlan Ahmadov ( az, Tərlan Musa oğlu Əhmədov, born 17 November 1971) is a retired Azerbaijani international football defender who was captain of the national team. During his international career he earned 73 caps, ranking him fourth in Azerbaijan's all time appearances. Ahmadov played his club football in Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine and Iran, ending his career with Olimpik Baku in 2009. Club career Ahmadov started his career at Termist Baku before moving to Neftchi Baku in 1989 and then Turan Tovuz in 1992. Ahmadov's first adventure playing outside of Azerbaijan was for Terek Grozny during the 1993 season, appearing 14 times. Ahmadov returned to Azerbaijan for the start of the 1993–94 season, signing for Qarabağ. Ahmadov played for Qarabağ for four seasons before heading back to Russia with Anzhi Makhachkala, though it was a short stay, playing five times before signing with Neftchi Baku in 1997. Shamakhi FK ( az, Şamaxı Futbol Klubu, ) is an Azerbaijani professional football club based in Shamakhi, that currently competes in the Azerbaijan Premier League. The club has won the Premier League title twice. History Early years (1997–2004) The club has been functioning since 1997, initially as an amateur side that shared its name with Khazar University, the first private university in Azerbaijan, which founded the club. 2008–09 Azerbaijan Premier League
The 2008–09 Azerbaijan Premier League is the 17th season of Azerbaijan Premier League, the Azerbaijani professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1992. Inter Baku were the defending champions, having won the previous season. Teams FK Gänclärbirliyi Sumqayit and ABN Bärdä were relegated after finishing the previous season in 13th and 14th place, respectively. They were replaced by the champions of the two groups in the Azerbaijan First Division, Bakılı Baku and MOIK Baku. On 8 July 2008, FK Masallı withdrew their participation from the league, citing competitional and financial problems as reasons. Although it was unclear as of 21 July if the Azerbaijan Football Federation would be naming a substitute or if the championship would start with just 13 teams, shortly thereafter AFFA named FK NBC Salyan to replace Masallı in top league. Karvan FK ( az, Karvan İdman Klubu) was an Azerbaijani football club based in Yevlakh, that participated in the Azerbaijan First Division. It was the first Azerbaijan club to pass the first qualification stage in the UEFA Cup. History Football in Yevlakh The first football club established in Yevlakh, one of the biggest cities in Azerbaijan, was FC Avtomobilchi, in 1990. The Russian Premier League (RPL; russian: Российская премьер-лига; РПЛ), also written as Russian Premier Liga, is the top division professional association football league in Russia. It was established at the end of 2001 as the Russian Football Premier League (RFPL; russian: Российская футбольная премьер-лига; РФПЛ) and was rebranded with its current name in 2018. 1993 Russian First League
The Russian First League 1993 was the 2nd edition of Russian First Division. There were 3 zones with 58 teams in total. The winner of each zone qualified for the promotion tournament to play against the teams that took places 14 to 16 in the 18-team Russian Top League 1993, 3 top teams from the tournament qualified for the Russian Top League 1994. For 1994 the Russian league system was reorganized, with First League reduced to one zone of 22 teams, so most of the 1993 Russian First League teams were relegated at the end of the season. Turan Tovuz PFC
Turan Tovuz ( az, Turan Tovuz) is an Azerbaijani football club based in Tovuz. The club won the Azerbaijan championship once, in 1994–1995. The club's home stadium is Tovuz City Stadium. History Founded by Vidadi Ahmedov on 23 February 1992, the club was the first Azerbaijani professional football club under the name of Turan Tovuz. However, since 1997, club found themselves slipping further and further down the table, which influenced by financial difficulties. In 2011–12 season, ended with Turan in 11th position in Azerbaijan Premier League, the club's lowest ever league finish.
