Tarlac's 2nd Congressional District
Tarlac's 2nd congressional district is one of the three congressional districts of the Philippines in the province of Tarlac. It has been represented in the House of Representatives of the Philippines since 1916 and earlier in the Philippine Assembly from 1907 to 1916. The district consists of the provincial capital, Tarlac City, and adjacent municipalities of Gerona, San Jose and Victoria. It is currently represented in the 18th Congress by Victor A. Yap of the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC). Benigno Simeon "Igno" Quiambao Aquino Sr. (born Benigno Simeón Aquino y Quiambao; September 3, 1894 – December 20, 1947) was a Filipino politician who served as Speaker of the National Assembly of the Japanese-sponsored puppet state in the Philippines from 1943 to 1944. He was the Director-General of KALIBAPI, a political party established during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines. His grandson, Benigno S. La Paz, Tarlac
La Paz, officially the Municipality of La Paz ( pam, Balen ning La Paz; tl, Bayan ng La Paz), is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Tarlac, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 68,952 people. History The early history of La Paz is unclear. Legends state that there was an old pueblo called " Cama Juan" situated along the bank of the Chico River, bordering the province of Tarlac and Nueva Ecija. When the Chico River overflowed during a storm, a great flood swept the entire pueblo during the night. The flood is said to have devastated the area, claiming many lives. This forced the inhabitants of "Cama Juan" to evacuate. The old site (Cama Juan) is known as "Balen Melakwan" or "Abandoned Town".
