Tarita Botsman
Tarita Botsman is an Australian operatic soprano, actor, writer and director. Education Botsman is a graduate of Brisbane Girls Grammar. She completed her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, whilst also studying acting at QUT, graduated from the Opera Course at Guildhall School of Music and Drama and studied with international singing teacher Margaret Baker Genovesi in Rome, Italy. She is currently completing her PhD at University of Queensland. Career She made her operatic debut at 22 years of age with Opera Queensland. She studied in Italy, UK and Germany, where she performed over twenty operatic roles. She has performed as an actor, written several shows and has directed various theatrical productions, concerts and ceremonies. Australian Women In Music Awards
Australian Women in Music Awards (commonly known informally as AWMA) is an annual awards ceremony and conference celebrating the contributions of women in all areas of the Australian music industry. The two-day program includes forums, a show case event and networking. Diversity and inclusion is a focus of the awards. The event was founded in March 2018 by industry veteran Vicki Gordon and come after the research report 'Skipping A Beat' published in 2017 found gender inequality to be rife in the Australian music industry. ''Peter Grimes'', Op. 33, is an opera in three acts by Benjamin Britten, with a libretto by Montagu Slater based on the section "Peter Grimes", in George Crabbe's long narrative poem '' The Borough''. The "borough" of the opera is a fictional small town that bears some resemblance to Crabbe's – and later Britten's – home of Aldeburgh, Suffolk, on England's east coast. The work was conceived while Britten was living in the US in the early years of the Second World War and completed when he returned to Britain in 1943. Kilkenny Arts Festival
The Kilkenny Arts Festival, formally known as Kilkenny Arts Week, was founded in Kilkenny, Ireland, in 1974. It covers a number of art forms, including classical music and performance. Ron Blair (born 1942) is an Australian writer. Among his best known works is the play ''The Christian Brothers''. He helped establish the now defunct Nimrod Theatre in Sydney in 1970, that operated until 1988.
