Target In The Clouds
''Target in the Clouds'' (German: ''Ziel in den Wolken'') is a 1939 German drama film directed by Wolfgang Liebeneiner and starring Albert Matterstock, Leny Marenbach and Brigitte Horney. It was based on a novel by Hans Rabl. The film portrays the struggles of the fictional German aviation pioneer Walter von Suhr, an officer in the pre-First World War German army who saw the potential for military aircraft.Paris p.93 The film's sets were designed by the art directors Otto Erdmann, Hans Sohnle and Wilhelm Vorwerg. It premiered at the Ufa-Palast am Zoo in Berlin. Wolfgang Liebeneiner
Wolfgang Georg Louis Liebeneiner (6 October 1905 – 28 November 1987) was a German actor, film director and theatre director. Beginnings He was born in Lubawka, Liebau in Prussian Silesia. In 1928, he was taught by Otto Falckenberg, the director of the Munich Kammerspiele, in acting and directing. Nazi era In 1936, Liebeneiner became a member of the Konzerthaus Berlin, Prussian State Theater () in Berlin and in 1938, he became artistic director of the German Film Academy Potsdam-Babelsberg, Babelsberg (). In 1941, he directed the film ''Ich klage an'' (''I accuse'') in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda. The film was about Euthanasia, voluntary euthanasia of a woman suffering from multiple sclerosis, but was intended to support the Action T4, T4 euthanasia program. The Ufa-Palast am Zoo, located near Berlin Zoological Garden in the New West area of Charlottenburg, was a major Berlin cinema owned by Universum Film AG, or Ufa. Opened in 1919 and enlarged in 1925, it was the largest cinema in Germany until 1929 and was one of the main locations of film premières in the country. The building was destroyed in November 1943 during the Bombing of Berlin in World War II and replaced in 1957 by the Zoo Palast.
