Tara Singh Hayer
Tara Singh Hayer (November 15, 1936 – November 18, 1998) was an Indian-Canadian newspaper publisher and editor who was murdered after his outspoken criticism of fundamentalist violence and terrorism. In particular, he was a key witness in the trial of the Air India Flight 182 bombing. Hayer was the founder of the '' Indo-Canadian Times'', the largest and oldest Punjabi-language weekly newspaper in Canada and the leading Punjabi-language newspaper in North America. Tara Singh (activist)
Master Tara Singh (24 June 1885 – 22 November 1967) was an Indian Sikh political and religious figure in the first half of the 20th century. He was instrumental in organising the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee and guiding the Sikhs during the partition of India, which he strongly opposed. He later led their demand for a Sikh-majority state in East Punjab. His daughter, the Indian journalist and politician Rajinder Kaur, was killed by Khalistani militants in Bathinda. Tara Singh Ramgarhia
Tara Singh Ramgarhia was a prominent Sikh leader, a Sardar, brother of the famous Jassa Singh Ramgarhia (1723–1803). In the late eighteenth century the Sikh domains were at their maximum extent, with territories that stretched from the Indus in the West almost as far as Delhi in the East, organized as a loose confederation of misls, or states. The Sikhs had recovered from the period of Afghan influence in the Punjab that culminated in the Wadda Ghalughara (great massacre) in 1764, a mass killing of the Sikhs by Muslims led by Ahmad Shah Abdali. After that the three Ramgarhia brothers Jassa Singh, Mali Singh and Tara Singh were forced for a while to go into hiding, but later regathered their forces and recaptured their territory.
