Tara Davis-Woodhall
Tara Davis-Woodhall (; ; born May 20, 1999) is an American track and field athlete. She won a gold medal in women's long jump at the 2024 Summer Olympics and also a silver medal at the 2023 World Championships. In 2017, she set the American junior women's record in the indoor long jump, and placed 6th in the women's long jump final at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Davis-Woodhall is also a hurdler. Early life Davis-Woodhall was born in Agoura Hills, California to parents Ty and Rayshon Davis. Her father is a former track and field athlete at Texas A&M. She is the youngest of five children. High school Davis-Woodhall broke the American junior record for indoor long jump at the Dumanis Sports Group Prep Classic in Frisco, Texas on February 11, 2017, with a distance of . The World Athletics U20 Championships is a biennial world championships for the sport of athletics organised by the World Athletics, contested by athletes in the under-20 athletics age category (19 years old or younger on 31 December in the year of the competition. The competition was launched as the IAAF World Junior Championships in Athletics in 1986 and renamed to IAAF World U20 Championships in November 2015. The current name was adapted with the name change of the sports governing body in 2019. The World Athletics Indoor Championships are a biennial indoor track and field competition served as the global championship for that version of the sport. Organised by the World Athletics, the competition was inaugurated as the ''World Indoor Games'' in 1985 in Paris, France and were subsequently renamed to IAAF World Indoor Championships in 1987. The current name was adapted with the name change of the sports governing body in 2019. The women's long jump at the 2023 World Athletics Championships was held at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest on 19 and 20 August 2023. Summary Under hot conditions Fátima Diame took the early lead with 6.82m. Several jumps later Ese Brume came close with a 6.80m. At the end of the round, Tara Davis-Woodhall popped a 6.91m. Only 5 of the first round were able to get a legal jump off. Next down the runway, Ivana Vuleta jumped 7.05m for her first legal jump to move on top of the podium. Later in the round, Brume improved her position by making 6.84m. From there, nobody was able to improve until the last jump of the fifth round, when Vuleta nailed a big one.
