Horst Tappert (26 May 1923 – 13 December 2008) was a German film and television actor best known for the role of Inspector Stephan Derrick in the television drama ''Derrick''. Biography Horst Tappert was born on 26 May 1923 in Elberfeld (now Wuppertal), Germany. His father, Julius Tappert (1892–1957), was a civil servant; his mother was Ewaldine Röll Tappert (1892–1981). Following high school and at the age of 17, Tappert was drafted into the German Army during World War II. Aged 19, he was, according to his widow against his will, transferred from the Army to the ''Waffen-SS'', where the author of the Derrick series, Herbert Reinecker, had also served. Initially a member of a reserve antiaircraft unit in Arolsen, he was listed as a grenadier with the 3rd SS Division Totenkopf in March 1943. In 1945, he was briefly a prisoner of war in Seehausen, Altmark. Following the war, he was hired as a bookkeeper at a theatre in Stendal, Germany, and became interested in acting ...

Fred Tappert
Frederick Drach Tappert (April 21, 1940 – January 9, 2002) was an American physicist whose primary contributions were in underwater acoustics. He is noted for the development of the parabolic equation model and split-step Fourier algorithm for electromagnetic and ocean acoustic propagation. Fred Tappert was born in April 1940 to Rev. Dr. Theodore Gerhardt Tappert and Helen Carson Tappert. As a child, Fred lived with his family on the campus of the Lutheran Theological Seminary in the Germantown neighborhood of Northwest Philadelphia. He attended Central High School in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania State University. Growing up, his father "often mentioned the satisfaction that would result from the pursuit of knowledge for its own sake." Georg Tappert
Georg Tappert (20 October 1880, in Berlin – 16 November 1957, in Berlin) was a German expressionist painter. Tappert underwent an apprenticeship as a tailor, before gaining employment at various tailoring businesses for two years. However he attracted the attention of Max Liebermann, who gave him a letter of introduction to Ludwig Schmid-Reutte a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, Karlsruhe. He studied there from 1901 to 1906, whereupon he joined the Worpswede artists’ colony until 1909.
