''Tanyaradzwa'' is a 2005 Zimbabwean award-winning bilingual drama film written and directed by Tawanda Gunda Mupengo. The film stars Tongayi Chirisa, Kudakwashe Maradzika and Tendai Musoni in the lead roles. The titular role is played by the lead actress Kudakwashe Maradzika. The film had its theatrical release in August 2005 and received positive reviews. It also received several awards and nominations. 2nd Africa Movie Academy Awards
The 2nd Africa Movie Academy Awards ceremony was held on April 29, 2006 at the Gloryland Cultural Center in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Nigeria, to honor the best African films of 2005. The ceremony was broadcast live on Nigerian national television. Numerous celebrities and top Nigerian politicians attended the event, including Goodluck Jonathan (former Governor of Bayelsa State) and various Nollywood actresses and actors. Special guest was South African Grammy Award-winning artist Miriam Makeba who performed at the ceremony. Nigerian veteran actor and playwright Hubert Ogunde received a posthumous award. Tongayi Chirisa
Tongayi Arnold Chirisa is a Zimbabwean actor known for playing Man Friday on NBC's ''Crusoe'' television series, Father Nicholas on ''The Jim Gaffigan Show'', and Hekule on Leon Schuster's '' Mr. Bones 2: Back from the Past'' movie. He is also an occasional singer. Education Chirisa attended Lomagundi College. He also studied for a Bachelor of Arts in Live Performance at AFDA, The School for the Creative Economy. Acting career He played the part of "Detective Trevor Davies" in the popular Zimbabwean television series ''Studio 263''. He also appeared in numerous feature films, the most well known being '' Tanyaradzwa'' in 2004, for which he won the Best Actor for Film and Television Award.
