Tantrum (American Band)
Tantrum was a seven-member rock group that released two albums on Chicago's Ovation Records label. The group comprised three female singers: Pam Bradley, Sandy Caulfield, and Barb Erber, as well as guitarist Ray Sapko, keyboardist Phil Balsano, bass guitarist Bill Syniar, and drummer Vern Wennerstrom. Their first album, entitled simply ''Tantrum'', was released in 1978, and their second, '' Rather Be Rockin''', was released the following year. ''Rather Be Rockin entered the Billboard Magazine Top LPs and Tapes charts (at #200) on December 19, 1980. The record was also listed in the magazine that month as a "National Breakout" in terms of radio play. Tantrum recorded a third and final album, entitled ''Breaking Away'', which was to be released in 1980. The group disbanded first, however, leaving the album unreleased until August 8, 2005, when the English record company "Escape Music" released this album, along with re-releases of the first two, all on a two-CD set. Ovation Records
Ovation Records was an American independent record label based in Glenview, Illinois. The label was founded in 1969 by Dick Schory, who had been on RCA Records with his Percussion Pops Orchestra and had helped create the Dynagroove process used by RCA. The label was created to feature many different genres; the mid-1970s success of The Kendalls gave Ovation an image as a country music label, although it continued to record rock and pop. For several years, all Ovation LPs were released in a 4-channel matrix quadraphonic format, which was compatible with stereo 2-channel playback systems. The label initially used the EV or Stereo-4 matrix but later changed to QS Regular Matrix. The Ovation Records product was acquired by global rights management company 43 North Broadway, LLC. Dennis DeYoung (born February 18, 1947) is an American musician, singer, songwriter and record producer. He was a founding member of the rock band Styx, and served as its primary lead vocalist and keyboardist from 1972 until 1999. DeYoung was the band's most prolific and successful writer, having been credited as the writer of more Styx songs than any other band member. ''Desert Moon'' is the debut solo album by former Styx keyboard player/singer/songwriter Dennis DeYoung. It was released in 1984 on A&M Records. To date, it has been the most successful of his solo albums and most successful of any of the Styx member solo albums. The album sold respectably and reached No. 24 on the ''Billboard'' 200 album charts in the fall of 1984 and was certified Gold in Canada. The album's biggest hit was its title cut which hit No. 10 on the ''Billboard'' singles chart. The album's second single "Don't Wait for Heroes" reached No. 83 and got MTV play. Styx () is an American rock band from Chicago that formed in 1972 and is best known for melding hard rock guitar balanced with acoustic guitar, synthesizers mixed with acoustic piano, upbeat tracks with power ballads, and incorporating elements of international musical theatre.
