''Tantilla'' is the second studio album by the folk rock band House Of Freaks. It is widely considered to be their best work. House Of Freaks
House of Freaks was a two-man band formed in Richmond, Virginia in the mid-1980s. Bryan Harvey played guitar and sang, and Johnny Hott played percussion. The band managed to achieve a remarkably full sound, mostly because of Hott's inventive drumming and Harvey's confident vocals and knack of playing bass lines on his guitar (cribbed from his many years as a bass player) while simultaneously playing a melody. The Freaks' sound was a combination of folk and rock, and drew heavily from the blues and primitive Americana music. Their lyrics focused on race, religion, and life in the South, although Harvey was also adept at writing about more personal topics (the lack of success of independent bands, his sex life and meeting the woman who would become his wife on "I Got Happy") using rich metaphors from these former topics, so that many of their songs could be interpreted in two entirely different ways. Malibu ( ; es, Malibú; Chumash: ) is a beach city in the Santa Monica Mountains region of Los Angeles County, California, situated about west of Downtown Los Angeles. Folk rock is a hybrid music genre that combines the elements of folk and rock music, which arose in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom in the mid-1960s. In the U.S., folk rock emerged from the folk music revival. John Leckie
John William Leckie (born 23 October 1949) is an English record producer and recording engineer. His production credits include Magazine's ''Real Life'' (1978), XTC's ''White Music'' (1978) and Dukes of Stratosphear's '' 25 O'Clock'' (1985), the Stone Roses' ''The Stone Roses'' (1989), the Verve's '' A Storm in Heaven'' (1993), Radiohead's '' The Bends'' (1995), Cast's ''All Change'' (1995), Muse's ''Origin of Symmetry'' (2001) and the Levellers' ''We the Collective'' (2018). ''All My Friends'' is an EP by House of Freaks released on CD (R2 70943) and 12" vinyl (R1 70943) in 1989 by Rhino Records. In 2004, these tracks were remastered and included on the reissue of the album Tantilla. Recording occurred at Floodzone Studios in Richmond, VA. The album's cover image is a collage of photos consisting of friends and acquaintances of band members Bryan Harvey and Johnny Hott. Included in the collage, above the EP's title, is a photo of Sparklehorse founder Mark Linkous, who occasionally performed with House of Freaks. ''Cakewalk'' is an album by the American alternative rock duo House of Freaks, released in 1991. It was the duo's first album for a major label. "Rocking Chair" peaked at No. 11 on ''Billboards Modern Rock Tracks chart. The album was a commercial disappointment. Production The album was produced by Dennis Herring. The duo brought in Bob Rupe, of the Silos, to play bass; Mark Linkous also contributed to the recording. Johnny Hott sang his first lead vocal on "My House". Rhino Entertainment Company is an American specialty record label and production company founded in 1978. It is currently the catalog division for Warner Music Group. Its current CEO is Mark Pinkus. History Founded in 1978, Rhino was originally a novelty and reissue label during the 1970s and 1980s.
