Guoco Tower is a mixed-use development skyscraper in Tanjong Pagar of the Downtown Core district of Singapore. With a height of , it is currently the tallest building in Singapore, breaking the record held jointly by UOB Plaza, One Raffles Place and Republic Plaza for more than 20 years. Background Formerly known as the Tanjong Pagar Centre, the 65-storey, 1.7 million sq ft skyscraper was developed by GuocoLand and designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. It is the headquarters of Guocoland Limited and is the only skyscraper exempted from the height restriction of 280m. Tanjong Pagar ( alternatively spelled ''Tanjung Pagar'') is a historic district located within the Central Business District in Singapore, straddling the Outram Planning Area and the Downtown Core under the Urban Redevelopment Authority's urban planning zones. Etymology The area of what Tanjong Pagar is now was said to be initially a fishing village called ''Salinter''. World Architecture Festival
The World Architecture Festival (WAF) is an annual festival and awards ceremony, one of the most prestigious events dedicated to the architecture and development industry. The first four events were held in Barcelona, from 2008 to 2011, at which point the festival moved to Singapore for four years. Since 2016, host cities have included Berlin and Amsterdam.
