Tania Maria Tupu (; born 28 December 1973) is a New Zealand former basketball player who competed in the 2000 Summer Olympics and in the 2004 Summer Olympics The 2004 Summer Olympics ( el, Θερινοί Ολυμπιακοί Αγώνες 2004, ), officially the Games of the XXVIII Olympiad ( el, Αγώνες της 28ης Ολυμπιάδας, ) and also known as Athens 2004 ( el, Αθήνα 2004), .... Tupu also competed for New Zealand at the 1994 World Championship held in Australia. She is married to former NBL player Chris Tupu. As coach of the Tokomanawa Queens, Tupu guided the team to the inaugural Tauihi Basketball Aotearoa championship in 2022. The Tauihi Basketball Aotearoa is a women's semi-professional basketball league in New Zealand. History In December 2021, a new women's national basketball league was established for 2022 with five new franchises. The league's name ''Tauihi Basketball Aotearoa'' was announced in March 2022, with Tauihi meaning "to soar" and Aotearoa meaning New Zealand in Māori language. The inaugural teams included Northern Kāhu, Whai, Tokomanawa Queens, Mainland Pouākai, and Southern Hoiho. The Queens were crowned the inaugural champions. The 1994 FIBA Women's World Championship was the 12th edition of the FIBA Women's World Championship, an quadrennial international tournament played by women's basketball teams in FIBA. It was hosted in Australia from 2 to 12 June 1994 at five venues with the Sydney Entertainment Centre hosting the finals. The tournament consisted of 16 nations from five federations who competed through the regional qualifiers to get to the tournament. These teams were divided into four groups for the Preliminary Round.
