Tanaji Halarnkar
Tanaji Halarnkar (September 18, 1943 – October 19, 2020) was a Konkani scholar, columnist and former editor of the ''Konkani Encyclopedia'' ( Konkani Vishwakosh). Halarnkar played a prominent role in the pro- Konkani language agitation in the Goa of the 1980s, and also in the wider movement for the promotion of the Konkani language in Goa and other parts of western coastal India. His other contributions include helping develop scientific and technical terminology for Konkani. He was involved with organising Konkani literary events, authored books, and did his Ph.D. on the ''gram panchayats'' (village councils) of Goa. Contribution Following his death in October 2020, the ''Times of India'' credited him with having spent "12 years of his life in hepreparation of the Konkani encyclopedia". Ponda, Goa
Ponda (; pt, Pondá), also known as ''Fondya'', is a city and a municipal council in the north Goa district of Goa, India. Located in the central area of Goa, Ponda lies 28 km (17 miles) southeast of Panaji, the capital of Goa and 17 km (10.6 miles) northeast of Margao, the district headquarters. Goa Konkani Akademi
The Goa Konkani Akademi (Goa Academy of Letters for Konkani) is an organization set up by the Government of Goa in 1986 to promote the Konkani in Goa. Its stated aim is to accelerate the pace of development of Konkani by encouraging writers, researchers, etc. and to bring Konkanis from all areas together. Nature The Goa Konkani Akademi was founded on 4 March 1986. It is an autonomous body and has jurisdiction over the state of Goa. It undertakes activities for the development and promotion of Konkani. GKA receives grants from the Government of Goa. The current Akademi President is Pundalik Naik (2002–present). The All India Konkani Parishad is a national conference held in India. It is meant to support the Konkani people and Konkani language, and conducts various activities to achieve that goal, aided by local authorities History The Konkani Parishad was launched when India's struggle for freedom was at its peak. The organisation was founded by the late Madhav Manjunath Shanbhague of Kumta, Karnataka, on 8 July 1939. Porvorim (pronounced ''Parvari '' ), is the '' De facto'' legislative and executive capital of the state of Goa, India, as both the Goa Legislative Assembly and Secretariat are functioning from the same complex in the region of Alto Porvorim in porvorim.(Alto – Portuguese word meaning high or upper). Manohar Rai Sardesai
Dr. Manohar Rai Sardesai (18 January 1925 – 22 June 2006) was a Konkani poet, writer and French translator from Goa, India. He received his ''Doctorat ès lettres françaises'' for his thesis "L'image de l'Inde en France" from the University of Sorbonne. He has been credited for an upsurge of modern Konkani poetry. Sardesai died in 2006. Early life Manohar Rai Sardesai was born on 18 January 1925. He passed his matriculation examination in 1942 from the Bhatikar Model High School in Margao. He obtained a First Class First in Bachelor of Arts from the University of Bombay in 1947. He successfully completed his Master of Arts, also with the First Class First in French and in Marathi from the same university in 1949.
