Tanah Merah Airport
Tanah Merah Airport ( id, Bandar Udara Tanah Merah) is one of the airports serving the Boven Digoel Regency, in the Indonesian province of South Papua. It is located in the regency's capital of Tanahmerah. The airport served 2,200 passengers throughout 2016. It has serviced flights with the provincial capital at Jayapura (Sentani International Airport) and Merauke ( Mopah International Airport) to the south. Both routes are serviced by Trigana Air. The airport was briefly closed during the eruption of the Manam in Papua New Guinea in 2015. Incidents In 2008, a Pelita Air de Havilland Dash 7 was mired in the apron, although it was not damaged and was soon returned to service. Xpress Air was a domestic regular airline that offered direct flights to the eastern parts of Indonesia, with its first flight in 2005, and from 2014 international routes to Malaysia. Beginning with two Boeing 737s, Xpress Air was the first privately owned, scheduled airline to connect Jakarta to 24 domestic destinations like Makassar (formerly known as Ujung Pandang), Ternate, Sorong, Manokwari and Jayapura. Manam Motu
Manam, known locally as Manam Motu, is an island located in the Bismarck Sea across the Stephan Strait from Yawar on the northeast coast of mainland Papua New Guinea's Bogia District. The island is 10 kilometers wide, and was created by the activity of the Manam Volcano, one of the country’s most active. Merauke is a large town and the capital of the South Papua province, Indonesia. It is also the administrative centre of Merauke Regency in South Papua. It is considered the easternmost city in Indonesia. The town was originally called Ermasoe. It is next to the Maro River where the Port of Merauke is located. Tanah Merah (or Tanamerah, literally means ''Red Land'') is a town in South Papua province of Indonesia (not to be confused with Tanahmerah Bay) on the bank of Digul river, located some two hundred miles from Merauke within the interior of Western New Guinea (a town not occupied by the Japanese during WWII).
