Bruce Tammen
Bruce Tammen (born 14 June 1950) is an American conductor, choir director, and singer. Education and career Tammen holds degrees from Luther College, Northwestern University, and the University of Chicago and has taught voice and directed choirs at Luther College, the University of Chicago and area, and the University of Virginia. Tammen studied extensively in France with Dalton Baldwin and Gerard Souzay, and for several years studied with Max van Egmond at Oberlin's Baroque Performance Institute. He has performed several seasons under Helmuth Rilling at the Oregon Bach Festival, and with the Robert Shaw Choral Institute, in Souillac, France. Tammen is baritone soloist on the Telarc/Shaw compact discs Appear and Inspire and Liebeslieder Waltzes. Ronald Henry Tammen Jr. (born July 23, 1933) was a student at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, who went missing on April 19, 1953. His case remains unsolved. Students of the university have since dubbed him the "Phantom of Oxford". Biography Tammen was from Maple Heights, Ohio, the second oldest of five children. Sietje Gravendaal-Tammens
Sietje Gravendeel-Tammens (29 July 1914 – 27 September 2014) was a Dutch resistance leader and teacher. In 1944, she was sentenced to death, but survived because the sentence needed approval from Berlin. Biography Sietje Tammens was born on a farm near Kloosterburen as the oldest of eight children. At first she wanted to become a Dutch Reformed pastor despite not being raised religiously. Ultimately she chose to study at a training college to become a teacher. In 1939, she left for Groningen as a private teacher for a mentally handicapped son of a professor. During this period, she specialized in speech-language pathology. World War II In late 1941, Tammens became a teacher at a BLO school, special education for boys with learning difficulties. She found refuge for a Jewish boy from her school and his brother at a farm, which marked her first act of resistance.
