Adelaide Tambo
Adelaide Frances Tambo (née Tshukudu; 18 July 1929 – 31 January 2007) was a South African anti-apartheid activist, political exile, and regarded as a hero of the liberation struggle against apartheid. She was involved in South African politics for five decades and was married to the late Oliver Tambo, president of the African National Congress (ANC), from 1956 until his death in 1993. Early career Born on 18 July 1929 in Top Location as Adelaide Frances Tshukudu, she was affectionately known as ''Mama Tambo'' in South Africa. At the age of 10, following a raid by the police on a riot in Top Location a police officer was killed, and Adelaide's ailing grandfather, aged 82, was among those arrested and taken to the town square. Her grandfather collapsed and she had to sit with him until he regained consciousness. After the incident, she vowed to fight the police till the end. Tambo (Incan Structure)
A tambo (Quechua: ''tampu'', "inn") was an Incan structure built for administrative and military purposes. Found along the extensive roads, tambos typically contained supplies, served as lodging for itinerant state personnel, and were depositories of quipu-based accounting records. Individuals from nearby communities within the Inca empire were conscripted to maintain and serve in the tambos, as part of the mit'a labor system. Tambos were spaced along Incan roads, generally about one day's travel apart. Characteristics and functions The Incas built many of their tambos when they began to upgrade their empire-wide road system during the reign of Thupa Inka Yupanki from 1471 to 1493. Tambo is an administrative division in southern Metro Manila, the Philippines. It is a coastal barangay in the city of Parañaque situated just south of Baclaran adjoining the Ninoy Aquino International Airport complex to the east. Tambo Island
The Tambo Island is an island in the middle of the Pontevedra bay, in Spain. It belongs to the municipality of Poio, from which it is separated by a 1.1 km long but shallow channel. Its surface area is 0.28 km², with a maximum height of 80 m, although its entire central part is over 50 metres high. Its perimeter reaches 4 km. Pizzo Tambò
Tambohorn or Pizzo Tambo (Swiss names) or Pizzo Tambò (used in Italy) is a mountain located at the eastern extremity of the Lepontine Alps on the Swiss-Italian border. The mountain lies on the German-Italian language border, west of the Splügen Pass which divides the Western Alps from the Eastern Alps. Reaching a height of 3,279 metres, it is the highest peak in the Mesolcina sub-chain which, starting from the Lugano Prealps northwards, ends near the Splügen Pass on the boundary between Lombardy (northern Italy) and the Graubünden canton of Switzerland. Dali Tambo (born 1 March 1959) is a South African media personality best known as the presenter of the SABC television talk-show ''People of the South'' and as the founder of the anti-apartheid organisation Artists Against Apartheid. Early life Dali Tambo is the son of Oliver Tambo, former president of the African National Congress, and Adelaide Tambo.
