Antoine Omer Talon
Antoine Omer Talon (20 January 1760 in Paris–18 August 1811 in Gretz) was a French counter-revolutionary. He was born in Paris on 20 January 1760, he was the father of Jean-Baptiste, seigneur of Boullay Thierry. He married Jeanne-Agnès-Gabrielle, countess of Pestre, from a rich family of nobles that originated from Belgium. He had two children, Denis-Mathieu-Claire (born on 20 November 1783 in Paris) and Zoé-Victoire (born 2 August 1785) in Boullay-Thierry. He later attended the French Parliament on July 1, 1781. Talon along with Talleyrand fled to the United States in 1793 on the boat ''Alien Bill'' to Philadelphia. He took part in the founding of a colony named French Azilum. He later returned to France and took part in the Directory and consulate of the First French Empire. He died in Gretz in 1811. Durwin Talon
Durwin Talon (born in London, Ontario) is a comics artist, illustrator, author and professor of illustration. Early life and education Talon developed an interest in art at an early age. He received his bachelor's degree in Fine Arts (BFA) from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), then received his ISDP Master's Degree (MA) from Syracuse University in the United States. In 2007, he received the terminal degree of Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) in Illustration from the University of Hartford. Career Durwin worked as a professor at the Savannah College of Art and Design. He taught in the Sequential Art, Illustration, Graphic Design and Computer Art departments. After almost a decade at SCAD, Durwin moved to Indiana to teach at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. In August 2007, Talon left IUPUI to resume teaching at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Jean Talon
Jean Talon, Count d'Orsainville (; January 8, 1626 – November 23, 1694) was a French colonial administrator who served as the first Intendant of New France. Talon was appointed by King Louis XIV and his minister, Jean-Baptiste Colbert, to serve as the Intendant of Justice, Public Order and Finances in Canada, Acadia and Newfoundland for two terms: 1665 to 1668 and 1670 to 1672. Talon attempted to change the economic base of the colony from fur trading to agriculture, but found this could not be accomplished without a larger population. Talon arranged for settlers to come to New France, including over 800 women known as the King's Daughters. These were young orphans that came to New France to marry men present there. He encouraged population growth through marriage grants and baby bonuses, which were financial compensation given to a couple when they married, and again when they had children. Nicolas Talon
Nicolas Talon (31 August 1605 – 29 March 1691) was a French Jesuit, historian, and ascetical writer. Talon was born at Moulins. Entering the Society of Jesus in 1621, he taught literature for several years. After his ordination he gained some reputation as a preacher, was a worker in the prisons and hospitals of Paris, and served as army chaplain with the French troops in Flanders, winning the admiration of the men and the lifelong friendship of the Prince de Conde. He assisted the notorious outlaw Aime du Poncet during his painfully protracted execution, and it is said that Poncet died penitent and resigned. This striking conversion made a profound impression. Talon died in Paris. Talon's portrait was engraved by Heer. Carlos Sommervogel mentions 300 of his letters in the d'Aumale collection at Chantilly. Patrice Guillaume Athanase Talon (born 1 May 1958) is a Beninese politician and businessman who has been President of Benin since 6 April 2016. Early life and career Talon is of Fon origin and was born in Ouidah. He descends from slave traders. His father was from Ouidah while his mother came from a Guédégbé family in Abomey. He obtained a baccalaureate in Dakar, Senegal. After obtaining a "C" grade in his bachelor's degree in science at the University of Dakar, he was transferred to the École nationale de l'aviation civile in Paris. With dreams of becoming a pilot, Talon failed a medical test and this dream became impossible. In 1983, Talon became involved in trading packaging and agricultural inputs. Pierre Talon
Pierre Talon (1676 – first half of 18th century) was a French explorer. Biography Talon was born in Québec City, New France in 1676 of Luicien and Isabelle Planteau. His entire family had just emigrated back to France when they were all engaged to follow Cavalier de La Salle in his attempt to colonize Louisiana (1684). Shortly after landing there, Talon was sent to learn the language of the Cenis Indians, and spent six years in their country about one hundred leagues inland at the limit of La Salle's discoveries. After the murder of the latter by one of his party, and the massacre of many of the colonists, in their first settlement by the Clamcoet Indians, the country was occupied by the Spaniards. Talon's father had perished in the woods, but his brothers and sisters had been saved by Indian women.
