Bob Tallman born Robert Matthew Tallman (born October 25, 1947) is a ProRodeo Hall of Fame American rodeo announcer. He is known as "the voice of professional rodeo". Life Bob Tallman was born Robert Matthew Tallman on October 25, 1947, in Orovada, Nevada to rancher John B. Tallman and his wife Irene Capelli. Tallman and his sister, Maryanne, grew up on the family's Willow Creek cattle ranch, near Orovada. The Tallmans moved into Winnemucca when Bob was 10 years old. He tried football in high school, but it did not work out athletically. He had a natural talent for golf, but he loved rodeo more, and he could rope. He gained some experience roping in high school and in 4-H. He went to California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California. Charles Cameron "Trusty" Tallman (September 18, 1899 – November 16, 1973) was an American football player and, coach of football and basketball, and law enforcement officer. "Trusty" was the only person in West Virginia sports history who was player, assistant coach and head coach of Marshall and West Virginia University. Trusty was honorable mention End on Walter Camp's 1922 All-American football team, and was a member of the 1st undefeated West Virginia University team(1922). He was captain of the West Virginia University baseball team, and as pitcher, set a school record. He was also president of Sigma Nu fraternity. He received a law degree from West Virginia University. Frank Tallman
Frank Gifford Tallman III (April 17, 1919 in East Orange, New Jersey – April 15, 1978 in Santiago Peak, Trabuco Canyon, California) was a stunt pilot who worked in Hollywood during the 1960s and 1970s. He was the son of Frank Gifford Tallman, Jr. (1894 – 1952) and Inez Evelyn Foster (1894 – 1982). Early life Growing up, he had a twin sister named Elizabeth. When Elizabeth was about 7, she died of a combination of pneumonia and measles. That same year Frank's sister Prudence was born. He also had one brother, Foster. Frank Tallman's father had been a military pilot during World War I. Tallman took his first plane ride in his father's lap at the age of five. As a teenager he took flying lessons and became a pilot. Peleg Tallman
Peleg Tallman (July 24, 1764 – March 12, 1840) was a United States representative from Massachusetts. He was born in Tiverton in the Rhode Island Colony and attended public schools. He served in the Revolutionary War on the privateer Trumbull, and lost an arm in an engagement in 1780. He was captured and imprisoned by the British. After the War, he engaged in mercantile pursuits in Bath (which was a part of Massachusetts' District of Maine until 1820). He was elected as a Democratic-Republican to the Twelfth Congress (March 4, 1811 – March 3, 1813). He declined to be a candidate for renomination, and became an overseer of Bowdoin College 1802-1840. Tallman served as a member of the Maine State Senate, and died in Bath. His interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery, and was reinterred in Forest Hills Cemetery, Roxbury, Massachusetts. Warren Tallman (17 November 1921 – 1 July 1994) was an American-born poetry professor who influenced the Vancouver Tish poets. History Born in Seattle, Tallman was raised in Tumwater, Washington. He attended the University of California, Berkeley on the G.I. Bill, writing dissertations on Henry James and Joseph Conrad. There he met Ellen King; they married in 1951. In 1956, Tallman and his wife accepted teaching jobs in the English department at the University of British Columbia, helped Earle Birney and Roy Daniells to organize the creative writing department. In 1963, they hosted a poetry conference attended by Denise Levertov, Charles Olson, Allen Ginsberg, Robert Duncan, Margaret Avison, Robert Creeley, and Philip Whalen. The Tallman home itself also served as a poetry enclave of sorts.
