Taliaʻuli Sikuea
Taliaʻuli Sikuea (born 14 July 1995) is a Romanian rugby union player who plays for CSM Știința Baia Mare in the Liga Națională de Rugby. Club career Sikuea began his senior career at Toloa Old Boys in Tonga before joining Romanian outfit CSM Știința Baia Mare in 2016. Ever since his transfer to Baia Mare, Sikuea has become a prominent try scorer for his side. Currently, Sikuea has won four straight league titles for the team since he first joined. International career Sikuea represented Tonga at the 2015 World Rugby Under 20 Trophy, as well as the sevens team national in the 2016 men's rugby sevens final Olympic qualification tournament. In 2023, Sikuea represented the Romanian national sevens team during the 2023 European Games and he also made his debut for the Oaks against the United States during the 2023 Rugby World Cup warm-up matches, scoring a try on his debut. Centre (rugby Union)
In the game of rugby union, there are 15 players on each team, comprising eight forwards (wearing jerseys numbered 1–8) and seven backs (numbered 9–15). In addition, there may be up to eight replacement players "on the bench", numbered 16–23. Players are not restricted to a single position, although they generally specialise in just one or two that suit their skills and body types. Players that play multiple positions are called "utility players". Forwards compete for the ball in scrums and line-outs and are generally bigger and stronger than the backs. Props push in the scrums, while the hooker tries to secure the ball for their team by "hooking" it back with their heel. The hooker is also the one who is responsible for throwing the ball in at line-outs, where it is mostly competed for by the locks, who are generally the tallest players on the team. Cupa României (rugby Union)
The Cupa României is a rugby union cup competition for Romanian teams which has been held annually since 1914 except for a couple of years where the cup was not held either because of World War II or other unknown reasons. It is the country's main cup competition, although not being open to all clubs affiliated with the Federaţia Română de Rugby (FRR) like in previous editions and only being open to the teams competing in the CEC Bank SuperLiga. 2019–20 SuperLiga Season
The 2019–20 SuperLiga (also known as the CEC Bank SuperLiga for sponsorship reasons) is the 106th season of premier club rugby in Romania. Starting with this edition, the number of participating teams has decreased from eight teams to seven, due to CSM București (rugby union), CSM București dissolving before the start of the new season. At the end of April, SCM Gloria Buzău (rugby union), Gloria Buzău announced that their senior team have dissolved due to financial issues concerning the COVID-19 pandemic leaving only 6 teams remaining in the SuperLiga for the remainder of the season.
