Tal Baron
Tal Bar on ( Hebrew: טל בראון; born August 7, 1992 in Tel Aviv) is an Israeli chess Grandmaster. Life Baron was born in Tel Aviv and grew up in Herzliya, where he also attended high school. He acquired the title of International Master in 2010, having completed the required norms in December 2008 at the Israeli championship in Haifa and in 2010 at the European championship in Rijeka. He was awarded the title of Grandmaster in 2011. In April 2017, Baron confessed to using a chess computer to cheat, as a technical matter, in the final round of an online tournament on Chess.com. He won the gold medal in the second GM group at the 2017 Maccabiah Games, in which former Women's World Champion, Ukrainian grandmaster Anna Ushenina took the silver medal. The 2017 Maccabiah Games ( he, משחקי המכביה 2017), also referred to as the 20th Maccabiah Games ( he, המכביה ה-20), were the 20th edition of the Maccabiah Games. Alexander Moiseenko ( uk, Олександр Моісеєнко, ; born 17 May 1980) is a Ukrainian chess grandmaster and the 2013 European champion. He was a member of the gold medal-winning Ukrainian team at the Chess Olympiads of 2004 and 2010. Biography Born in Severomorsk to a Ukrainian family, Moiseenko moved with his family to Kharkiv, Ukraine when he was nine. He won the World Championship for boys Under-16 in Spain in 1996, and was awarded the International Master title. He improved his standard steadily over the next several years. Anna Yuriyivna Ushenina (; born 30 August 1985) is a Ukrainian chess grandmaster who was Women's World Chess Champion from November 2012 to September 2013. Personal life Ushenina lives in Kharkiv, where she was born. She is of Jewish ethnicity. Determined that the young Ushenina should develop intellectual and creative talents, her mother introduced her to chess at the age of seven, along with painting and music. She became the Ukrainian Girls' (under 20) champion at 15 years. Many of her chess skills have been self-taught, although in 2000–2002, she studied chess in the Kharkiv sports school of Olympic reserve. Grandmaster (chess)
Grandmaster (GM) is a title awarded to chess players by the world chess organization FIDE. Apart from World Champion, Grandmaster is the highest title a chess player can attain. Once achieved, the title is held for life, though exceptionally it has been revoked for cheating. The title of Grandmaster, along with the lesser FIDE titles of International Master (IM) and FIDE Master (FM), is open to all players regardless of gender. The great majority of grandmasters are men, but 40 women have been awarded the GM title as of 2022, out of a total of about 2000 grandmasters.
