Taktici
Taktici is a Slovak music group, established in 1977. In 1979 they defected to the US and in 1982 they went their separate ways. History Taktici started their musical career in Bratislava's famous V-klub in 1970s. They played original melodic songs with controversial Slovak lyrics. In just three years from 1977-1979 they produced songs that withstood the advance of time and generations. Whats amazing is that even though their songs were played on the radio they’ve never been released on records. What’s even more incredible is that some songs that haven’t been played anywhere became cult hits. In 1979 they were invited to UK to take part in Gary Glitter show. When the communist government of Czechoslovakia cancelled their tour, three members Vlado Kolenič, Július Mikeš, and Štefan Peller decided to immigrate to USA. ''Smoliari'' ( en, Unlucky Fellows) is the soundtrack from the 1978 television film of the same name, directed by Dušan Kodaj. The compilation released as the first original picture soundtrack in the country of origin was issued in 1979 on OPUS Records, with featuring songs written by Ali Brezovský and Kamil Peteraj. Among artists who contributed to the project were Marika Gombitová and Miro Žbirka. Paul Francis Gadd (born 8 May 1944), best known by his stage name Gary Glitter, is an English former singer, songwriter, and record producer. He achieved success during the glam rock era of the 1970s and 1980s, and his career ended after he was imprisoned for downloading child pornography in 1999. He was also convicted of child sexual abuse in 2006 and attempted rape in 2015. Slovak Popular Music
Popular music began to replace folk music in Slovakia beginning in the 1950s, when Slovakia was a part of Czechoslovakia; American jazz, R&B, and rock and roll were popular, alongside waltzes, polkas, and czardas, among other folk forms. By the end of the 1950s, radios were common household items, though only state stations were legal. Slovak popular music began as a mix of bossa nova, cool jazz, and rock, with propagandistic lyrics. Dissenters listened to ORF (Austrian Radio), Radio Luxembourg, or Radio Free Europe, which played more rock. Czechoslovakia was more passive in the face of Soviet domination, and thus radio and the whole music industry toed the line more closely than other satellite states.
