Dharmjeet Singh Thakur (born 30 June 1953) is an Indian politician. He is current MLA from Takhatpur assembly constituency. He was elected to the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly from Lormi in the 2018 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly election as a member of the Janta Congress Chhattisgarh. Political career Singh Started his political career from student politics. Dharamjit Singh learned the art of politics from Vidya Charan Shukla. Vidya Charan Shukla has been his godfather. In 1998, he got Congress ticket for the first time from Lormi Assembly. And he defeated BJP's sitting MLA Muniram Sahu by 19000 votes. 2018 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Election
The 2018 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly election was held to elect members to the Legislative Assembly of the Indian State of Chhattisgarh. The election was held in two phases for a total of 90 seats; the first for 18 seats in South Chhattisgarh was held on 12 November 2018, and the second for the remaining 72 were held on 20 November. The INC got a landslide victory winning 68 seats against the ruling BJP's 15 seats, and consequently formed the government after 15 years as opposition party. Incumbent Chief Minister Raman Singh resigned on 11 December, the day of counting and declaration of result, taking the responsibility for the defeat. Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly election 2013 was held in two phases on 11 and 19 November in Chhattisgarh state of India. The result was announced on 8 December. Incumbent ruling party BJP and Chief Minister Raman Singh retained the majority in assembly and formed government consequently for the third time.
