Takeshi Sasaki (political Scientist)
Takeshi Sasaki (佐々木毅) is a Japanese political scientist who served as the 27th president of the University of Tokyo. He has served as the chairman of the Japan Academy since 2022. Overview Sasaki was born in a village called Senya (now Misato) in the northeastern prefecture of Akita in 1942, during the Second World War. His father, Chohachi, served as the mayor of the village. Jean Bodin
Jean Bodin (; c. 1530 – 1596) was a French jurist and political philosopher, member of the Parlement of Paris and professor of law in Toulouse. He is known for his theory of sovereignty. He was also an influential writer on demonology. Bodin lived during the aftermath of the Protestant Reformation and wrote against the background of religious conflict in France. He seemed to be a nominal Catholic throughout his life but was critical of papal authority over governments and there was evidence he may have converted to Protestantism during his time in Geneva. Shigehiko Hasumi
(born 29 April 1936 in Roppongi, Tokyo) is a film critic and an academic researcher on French literature from Japan. He was president of the University of Tokyo from 1997 to 2001. Life and work Hasumi's father Shigeyasu was a professor at Kyoto University. His wife Chantal Van Melkebeke is a teacher from Belgium. Hasumi was influential in introducing French post-structuralist theory to Japan, and was himself influenced by such French thinkers as Gilles Deleuze.
