Taiwan Beer (basketball)
The Taiwan Beer Basketball Team () is a semi-professional basketball team in the Super Basketball League (SBL) in Taiwan sponsored by the Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation (TTL). Before the privatization of the sponsoring corporation in 1999, the team was named "Taiwan Tobacco and Wine Monopoly Bureau Golden Dragons" (公賣金龍) and was among the most successful franchises in Taiwan's amateur Division A conference (甲組聯賽). Since the inauguration of the SBL in 2003, the team has turned into a semi-professional club and won back-to-back championships between 2006 and 2008 bearing the new name of "Taiwan Beer". TaiwanBeer HeroBears
The TaiwanBeer HeroBears ( zh, 台灣啤酒英熊) are a Taiwanese professional basketball team based in Taipei City, Taiwan. They have competed in the T1 League since the 2021–22 season, and play their home games at the Tianmu Campus, University of Taipei, University of Taipei Tianmu Campus Gymnasium. The HeroBears became one of the six teams of the inaugural T1 League season. In 2021, following the establishment of T1 League, Super Basketball League team Taiwan Beer (basketball), Taiwan Beer basketball team splitted the team in two, which one of both joined T1 League and rebranded to TaiwanBeer HeroBears. The Taoyuan Pauian Archiland (), also translated as Taoyuan Pure-Youth Construction, is a semi-professional basketball team formerly in the Super Basketball League (SBL) of Taiwan. History The franchise derives its history from the celebrated Hung Kuo Elephants (宏國象) as they created the only dynasty of the defunct Chinese Basketball Alliance in Taiwan (CBA-Taiwan) between 1996 and 1998. Wu Tai-Hao (; born February 7, 1985, in Taoyuan County (now Taoyuan City, Taiwan) is a Taiwanese basketball player for the Tainan TSG GhostHawks of the T1 League. Wu plays centre for the Chinese Taipei men's national basketball team, as well as for his Taiwanese club teams, but had adjusted to play forward while competing in the Pacific West Conference, a Division II league of the NCAA, as a member of the Brigham Young University–Hawaii varsity team. As a starter, he averaged 24.6 minutes, 10.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game in the 2006-2007 season. After his brief college basketball career in the United States, Wu returned to Taiwan to play in the Super Basketball League where he won a shot-block champion title and helped the Taiwan Beer club team to its second championship in 2008. Yen Hsing-su (; born 8 September 1976), also known as Johnny Yen, is a Taiwanese basketball coach and former basketball player, singer and actor. Since 2017 he has been the assistant coach of the Chinese Taipei men's national basketball team. From 2015 to 2017 he coached the Fubon Braves in Taiwan's Super Basketball League. Nicknamed "The Basketball Genie" (籃球精靈) for his playmaking skills, Yen was a regular of the Chinese Taipei national basketball team from 1997 to 2003. At the 2003 ABC Championship, he led the tournament in assists (4.7 per game), but retired soon afterwards to pursue a career in entertainment.
