Taishan District () is a district home to 76,769 people in New Taipei, Taiwan. History Taishan was formally a rural township. On December 25, 2010, after Taipei County was upgraded to New Taipei City, Taishan Township was upgraded to Taishan District. Geography *Area: 19.16 km2 *Population: 76,769 people (August 2022) Taishan borders Wugu, Linkou, and Xinzhuang districts of New Taipei City, as well as Guishan District of Taoyuan City. District (Republic Of China)
Districts are administrative subdivisions of the Republic of China (Taiwan)'s special municipalities of the second level and provincial cities of the third level formerly under its provinces. There are two types of district in the administrative scheme. Ordinary districts are governed directly by the municipality/city government with district administrators appointed by the mayors to four-year terms. The mountain indigenous district is a local government body with elected district chiefs as well as district council serving four-year terms. History The first administrative divisions entitled "districts" were established in the 1900s when Taiwan was under Japanese rule. After the World War II, nine (9) out of eleven (11) prefectural cities established by the Japanese government were reform into provincial cities. Mingzhi Academy
The Mingzhi Academy () is a former academy during the Qing Dynasty rule of Taiwan in Taishan District, New Taipei, Taiwan. History The academy was founded in 1763 by Hu Chuo-yo who came from Yongding, Fujian in which he donated the land and raised funds.
