Taipei Story
''Taipei Story'' is a 1985 Taiwanese film directed, scored, and co-written by Edward Yang — his second full-length feature film and third overall. The film stars Yang's fellow filmmaker Hou Hsiao-hsien and singer Tsai Chin (singer), Tsai Chin, whom Yang subsequently married. It is one of the earliest films of the Cinema of Taiwan#New Taiwanese Cinema.2C 1982.E2.80.931990, New Taiwanese Cinema. In the United States, Janus Films gave a limited release of the film's 4K restoration, done by the World Cinema Project, on March 17, 2017. Title The original title, "green plums and a bamboo horse", refers to Prunus mume, Chinese plums and the childhood practice of riding a bamboo stick as a pretend horse. This idiom alludes to an 8th-century poem by Li Bai, and in China it refers to a childhood sweetheart. Taipei (), officially Taipei City, is the capital and a special municipality of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Located in Northern Taiwan, Taipei City is an enclave of the municipality of New Taipei City that sits about southwest of the northern port city of Keelung. Edward Yang
Edward Yang (; November 6, 1947 – June 29, 2007) was a Taiwanese filmmaker. Yang, along with fellow auteurs Hou Hsiao-hsien and Tsai Ming-liang, was one of the leading film-makers of the Taiwanese New Wave and Taiwanese cinema. He won the Best Director Award at Cannes for his 2000 film ''Yi Yi''. Youth and early career Yang was born in Shanghai in 1947, and grew up in Taipei, Taiwan. Childhood sweetheart is a reciprocating phrase for a relationship (but not a partnership) between young persons. Chen Shu-fang (; born July 2, 1939) is a Taiwanese actress. She made her film debut in 1957 and television debut in 1971. In 2020, she was the recipient of the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress at the 57th Golden Horse Awards. Early life Chen Shu-fang was born on July 2, 1939, in New Taipei City. Her real name is Siao Chen (); Siao means smile in Chinese. Her grandfather gave her this name to hope that she would smile more often. Mei Fang (actress)
Mei Fang (; ; born 14 November 1989) is a former Chinese professional footballer who played as a centre-back. Club career Mei Fang started his football career with Wuhan Optics Valley in 2008 when he was promoted to the first team. In August 2008, he had a brief trial with Ligue 2 side RC Strasbourg along with his teammate Wang Yang. In October 2008, Wuhan withdrew from the league for what it claimed was unfair punishment by the Chinese Football Association.
