Taipei Open
The Taipei Open or Taipei WTA Challenger () is a tournament for female professional tennis players played on indoor carpet courts. The event is currently classified as an WTA 125K tournament. It has been held annually in November in Taipei City, Taiwan, from 2008 until 2015, and was sponsored by the OEC Group. In 2012, the event was upgraded from a $100,000 ITF tournament to a WTA Challenger tournament. History In 2007, OEC Group Chairman Robert Han organized an ITF tournament in Taoyuan where the prize was $50,000 plus hotel. OEC has retroactively referred to the event as the 2007 OEC Cup Taiwan Ladies Open. In October 18–20, 2008, the OEC Group held the 2008 OEC Taipei Ladies Open, which was a WTA-sanctioned ITF $100,000+H Tournament. held at the National Taiwan University Gymnasium and the Taipei Arena. Akiko Morigami
is a Japanese former tennis player. She turned professional in 1998. On 15 August 2005, she reached her career-high singles ranking of world No. 41. Morigami won one singles title in her career, defeating top-seeded Marion Bartoli in 2007 in the final of the Prague Open. She reached two other singles finals, both in Cincinnati (falling to Patty Schnyder in 2005, and losing to Anna Chakvetadze in 2007). Alison Van Uytvanck
Alison Van Uytvanck (; born 26 March 1994) is a Belgian professional tennis player. Van Uytvanck has won five singles and two doubles WTA Tour titles and three Challenger Tour singles titles, as well as 12 singles and two doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. Chang Kai-chen (; ; born January 13, 1991) is a Taiwanese former professional tennis player. Career Her father is Chang Chin-lai and mother is Jun Yu-mei; she has two older brothers, Yao-lun and Yao-chung (both play tennis). Born and raised in Taiwan, an hour from Taipei, Chang splits training between Taiwan and Delray Beach, Florida (International Tennis Academy). Kristina "Kiki" Mladenovic (; sr, Кристина "Кики" Младеновић, Kristina "Kiki" Mladenović, ; born 14 May 1993) is a French professional tennis player and a former world No. 1 in doubles. Kimiko Date-Krumm
is a Japanese former professional tennis player. She reached the semifinals of the 1994 Australian Open, the 1995 French Open and the 1996 Wimbledon Championships, and won the Japan Open a record four times. Peng Shuai
Peng Shuai (; born 8 January 1986) is a Chinese retired professional tennis player. In February 2014, she was ranked world No. 1 doubles player by the WTA, becoming the first Chinese tennis player to achieve that ranking (in either singles or doubles). Ayumi Morita
is a Japanese tennis player. She reached her career-high ranking of number 40 in the world in October 2011. At junior level, she reached a combined career-high ranking of world No. 3. Morita is known for strong and consistent two-handed groundstrokes which she hits very flat.
