Taipei Cultural Center
Taipei City Arts Promotion Office () is a cultural center in Songshan District, Taipei, Taiwan. History The founding preparation and planning stage of the cultural center began in April 1961. It was opened in January 1964 under the Department of Education of the Taipei City Government as the Taipei Municipal Social Education Hall (臺北市立社會教育館) at Chung-Shan Building in Taipei. In January 1967, the center borrowed the Ming-Lun Hall of Taipei Confucius Temple as their temporary location. In 1976, the center decided to construct its own place at the Municipal Park No. 5. The construction work commenced in March 1979 and was completed in June 1983. The center was officially reopened to the public on 22 October in the same year. In November 1999, the center was taken over by the Department of Cultural Affairs and its English name was changed to Taipei Cultural Center. Songshan District, Taipei
Songshan District is a district of Taipei, Taiwan. The Songshan Airport and the Taipei Arena are located here. History Songshan was originally named Malysyakkaw, a lowland Ketagalan word meaning "Where the river twists". Its written form () was abbreviated () in 1815 during Qing rule. During Japanese rule (1895-1945), the area served as a prime tea-growing area in northern Taiwan. In 1920, the area's settlements were established as , Shichisei District, Taihoku Prefecture. The village, named after Matsuyama City in Japan, was incorporated into Taihoku City (modern-day Taipei) in 1938. Taipei Arena () is a metro station in Taipei, Taiwan served by Taipei Metro. The station opened on 15 November 2014. Station overview This three-level, underground station has an island platform. It is located beneath Nanjing East Rd. to the west of Beining Rd. It opened in November 2014 with the opening of the Songshan Line. Originally, the station was to be named "Taipei Stadium Station". The Taipei Confucius Temple () is a Confucian temple in Datong District, Taipei, Taiwan. The Taipei City Government (TCG) is the municipal government of Taipei. History The Taihoku City Government was founded on 10 October 1920 in Taihoku Prefecture during Japanese colonial rule. The original city hall was located at the site of the Taihoku City Hall (modern-day Zhongshan Hall) in Zhongzheng District. After Taiwan was handed over to the Republic of China on 25 October 1945, Taipei became a provincial municipality and was renamed to Taipei City Government even though the city was the capital city of Taiwan Province but it moved to Zhongxing New Village from 1956.
