Taipei City Constituency VI () includes all of Daan in central Taipei. Legislative Yuan
The Legislative Yuan is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of China (Taiwan) located in Taipei. The Legislative Yuan is composed of 113 members, who are directly elected for 4-year terms by people of the Taiwan Area through a parallel voting system. Originally located in Nanking, the Legislative Yuan, along with the National Assembly (electoral college) and the Control Yuan (upper house), formed the tricameral parliament under the original 1947 Constitution. The Legislative Yuan previously had 759 members representing each constituencies of all provinces, municipalities, Tibet, Outer Mongolia and various professions. Until democratization, the Republic of China was an authoritarian state under Dang Guo, the Legislative Yuan had alternatively been characterized as a rubber stamp for the then-ruling regime of the Kuomintang. Daan District, Taipei City
Daan District (or Da-an District, Da'an, United States National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency District) is an important educational, commercial, residential and cultural district of Taipei City, Republic of China (Taiwan). The name of the district means "great safety" or "great peace". History The district is named after Daiwan village () that was once located near the intersection of present-day Xinyi Road and Fuxing S. Road. The name was changed in the 1800s (during the Qing era) to the more auspicious but similar-sounding "Daan" (; ). In 1875, the setup of Taipeh Prefecture put the village together with and ''La̍k-tiuⁿ-lê'' (), all of which are within today's Daan District. During Japanese rule, Daan village was merged with , , and . In 1945, after World War II, Daan District was drawn from an area centered on Daan village and took its name. Diane Lee
Diane Lee Ching-an (; Lee Ching-an; born 17 January 1959) is a Taiwanese former politician. She naturalized as a U.S. citizen in 1991, but later relinquished U.S. citizenship. Lee, a Kuomintang member, held elected public office in Taiwan from 1994 to 2009, first as a Taipei City Councilwoman and then for three terms as a legislator representing Daan District, Taipei City. Early life Lee is the youngest of four children born to Lee Huan and Pan Hsiang-ning. Her two brothers are Lee Ching-chung and Lee Ching-hua. Lee Ching-chu is her older sister. Chiang Nai-shin
Chiang Nai-shin (; born 24 September 1948) is a Taiwanese politician. He served in the Taipei City Council from 1982 to 2009, when he was elected to the Legislative Yuan. Education Chiang attended Tatung University, where he earned a master's degree in business administration. Political career Chiang was elected to the Taipei City Council in 1981 and served until 2009. After Diane Lee resigned her legislative seat in January 2009, Chiang won a four-way primary held on 8 February to represent the Kuomintang in the resulting by-election. He subsequently defeated six other candidates in the by-election held on 28 March. The Democratic Progressive Party nominated retired baseball player to run against Chiang in 2012. Taipei (), officially Taipei City, is the capital and a special municipality of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
