Tahir Mirkishili
Tahir Mirkishili - (born 7 June 1977) is an Azerbaijani economist, politician, and a member of the Azerbaijani National Assembly for the 5th and 6th terms. He was born in Hamzali, Gubadlı district. Mirkishili was elected to the National Assembly as the candidate of the New Azerbaijan Party from the 2nd electoral district no. 42. He is chairman of the Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship. Early life Mirkishili was born on 7 June 1977, in Gubadlı district. In 1994, he graduated from the number 1 physics-mathematics and informatics high school in Baku. He participated in the international Olympics as a member of the Azerbaijan national team in the field of mathematics. The National Assembly ( az, Milli Məclis), also transliterated as Milli Mejlis, is the legislative branch of government in Azerbaijan. The unicameral National Assembly has 125 deputies: previously 100 members were elected for five-year terms in single-seat constituencies and 25 were members elected by proportional representation; as of the latest election, however, all 125 deputies are returned from single-member constituencies. Qubadli District
Qubadli District ( az, Qubadlı rayonu) is one of the 66 districts of Azerbaijan. It is located in the south-west of the country and belongs to the East Zangezur Economic Region. The district borders the districts of Lachin, Khojavend, Jabrayil, Zangilan, and the Syunik Province of Armenia. Its capital and largest city is Qubadli. As of 2020, the district had a nominal population of 41,600. History The region was part of the Kurdistansky Uyezd and later the Kurdistan Okrug in the Azerbaijani SSR from 7 July 1923 to 23 July 1930. To its Kurdish population, it was known as Qûbadlî. The district was established on 14 March 1933. The district came was seized by the breakaway Republic of Artsakh in August 1993 during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. New Azerbaijan Party
The New Azerbaijan Party ( az, Yeni Azərbaycan Partiyası, YAP) is the ruling political party in Azerbaijan, founded on 21 November 1992 under the leadership of Heydar Aliyev. After his election as President of Azerbaijan on 3 October 1993, and the party's victory at 1995 parliamentary elections, YAP became the ruling party, a position it has held since. President Ilham Aliyev has been chairman of YAP since its 3rd congress held on 26 March 2005. YAP is a member of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) and an observer member of the Centrist Democrat International.
