Tages Discography
Tages formed in May 1963 as a duo and quickly expanded into quintet, though no music by them would be released until more than a year later, when their debut single "Sleep Little Girl" was released in October 1964. Up until October 1968, 23 singles by the group were released, though six of those were unauthorized. Out of these singles, 13 managed to reach both Kvällstoppen and ''Tio i Topp'' while two further singles only reached ''Tio I Topp''. In 1969, the band changed their name to Blond and three further singles were released between July 1969 and July 1970, out of which one reached ''Tio i Topp.'' Combined under both names, the band released in total 27 singles between October 1964 and July 1970. Tages (band)
Tages were a Swedish rock band formed in Gothenburg in 1963. The group, whose original line-up consisted of Tommy Blom, Göran Lagerberg, Danne Larsson, Anders Töpel and Freddie Skantze, were one of the most successful Swedish bands of the 1960s. They achieved thirteen top-20 singles on Kvällstoppen, such as " Sleep Little Girl", " I Should Be Glad", "In My Dreams", and " Miss Mac Baren", as well as having two albums certified gold, ''Tages'' (1965) and ''Tages 2'' (1966). Tages began their recording career as a beat band, heavily influenced and inspired by the Beatles. Initially, the group garnered much criticism from other musicians, who considered them inexperienced. This led to them quickly developing as a group, drawing influences from British mod artists, specifically Small Faces, and like them, were the center of Swedish male fashion from 1965 onward. VG-lista is a Norwegian record chart. It is presented weekly in the newspaper '' VG''. It is considered the primary Norwegian record chart, charting albums and singles from countries and continents around the world. The data are collected by Nielsen Soundscan International and are based on the sales in approximately 100 shops in Norway. The singles chart started as a top 10 chart in week 42 of 1958 and was expanded to a top 20 chart in week 5 of 1995, the same time the albums chart, which started as a top 20 chart in week 1 of 1967 was expanded to a top 40 chart. "Hound Dog" is a twelve-bar blues song written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Recorded originally by Big Mama Thornton on August 13, 1952, in Los Angeles and released by Peacock Records in late February 1953, "Hound Dog" was Thornton's only hit record, selling over 500,000 copies, spending 14 weeks in the R&B charts, including seven weeks at number one. Thornton's recording of "Hound Dog" is listed as one of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's "500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll", and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in February 2013. "Hound Dog" has been recorded more than 250 times. ''Tages'' (commonly referred to as ''Don't Turn Your Back'') is the first seven-inch extended play by Swedish rock group Tages, a release which features four songs, two of which showcase the early songwriting talent of the band. It was initially released on 4 June 1965 in 1000 copies on Platina Records. Background and release During the spring of 1965, Tages had become one of the biggest groups in Sweden, having released two singles that both reached the top-five on Kvällstoppen and '' Tio i Topp.'' However, the group had received criticism for these releases; the first of which "Sleep Little Girl", was negatively received while the other one "I Should Be Glad" was considered too lightweight. Odeon Records is a record label founded in 1903 by Max Straus and Heinrich Zuntz of the International Talking Machine Company in Berlin, Germany. The label's name and logo come from the Odéon-Théâtre de l'Europe in Paris. History Straus and Zuntz bought the company from Carl Lindström that he had founded in 1897. They transformed the Lindström enterprise into a public company, the Carl Lindström A.G. and in 1903 purchased Fonotipia Records, including their Odeon-Werke International Talking Machine Company. Sverigetopplistan (, lit. "the Sweden top list") is the Swedish national record chart, formerly known as Topplistan (1975–1997) and Hitlistan (1998–2007) and known by its current name since October 2007, based on sales data from the Swedish Recording Industry Association (in Swedish Grammofonleverantörernas förening). Before Topplistan, music sales in Sweden were recorded by Kvällstoppen, whose weekly chart was a combined albums and singles list. History For the period of 1976 to 2006, the official Swedish music charts were published by Sveriges Radio P3, a station owned by Sveriges Radio. ''Extra Extra'' is the third studio album by the Swedish rock band Tages, released on 28 November 1966 by Platina Records. Their third and final album on Platina, it was issued only four months after their second studio album ''Tages 2''. The album was largely recorded during a period in which the band had started evolving into a psychedelic rock group, something that became evident on their two final efforts, ''Contrast'' and ''Studio''. The album was recorded during a period in which Tages underwent several lineup changes. It's their first effort not to feature drummer Freddie Skantze, who left following the recording of ''Tages 2,'' and is the second and final album with drummer and vocalist Tommy Tausis, who'd played on several tracks on ''Tages 2''.
