Aron Tager
Aron Tager (June 30, 1934 – February 28, 2019) was an American actor, poet, artist and sculptor. Career As an artist, Tager had numerous exhibitions of his work and has sculptures installed at the following locations: Mount Anthony Union High School (Bennington, Vermont); Shaftsbury Elementary School ( Shaftsbury, Vermont); Delaware County Community College, (Media, Pennsylvania); and the Indianapolis Jewish Center, Battery Park ( Burlington, Vermont). He has earned a number of accolades for his work, including the Gold Key at the National Scholastic Art Competition in 1950, the 1975 Award and Medal at the Norwich University Art Show for "Best Sculpture" and "Most Popular Work in Show", and the Award and Medal, Boston Festival of the Arts, 1985. Trained as an actor, Tager took a 25-year hiatus to focus solely on art, particularly painting and sculpture, before returning to acting in the early 1990s. Helen Tager-Flusberg, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Psychological and Brain Science at Boston University and the Departments of Anatomy and Neurobiology and Pediatrics at Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM). She is the Director of the Center for Autism Research Excellence at Boston University. Personal life and education Tager-Flusberg was born in England. She received her bachelor's degree from the University College London in psychology. She moved to the US in the 1970s and obtained her PhD in Experimental Psychology from Harvard University in 1978. Her dissertation compared children with autism to children with severe developmental language disorders in studies on syntax, semantics and object play. Osias Tager (21 June 1914 – 26 March 2005) was a British businessman who was one of the founders of the Ravenswood community, a residential community for adults with learning difficulties. Early life and family Tager was born in Hannover, German Empire. He married Minnie who died from cancer in 1974 aged 54. Tager and Minnie had children Romie, Helen Tager-Flusberg, Helen, Sharon, and Henry. Ravenswood In 1953, Tager was one of the founders of the Jewish Association for Mentally Handicapped Children, now the Ravenswood Foundation, a residential community in Berkshire run by the charity Norwood that provides a home for adults with learning difficulties.
