Konstancin-Jeziorna is a town in Piaseczno County, Masovian Voivodeship, Poland, with 17,566 inhabitants (as of March 2011, according to GUS). It is located about south of downtown Warsaw and is a part of the metropolitan area of that city. The town was created in 1969 through combining neighbouring towns: holiday resort Skolimów-Konstancin and industrial Jeziorna with a number of villages. ''The Doll'' ( pl, Lalka) is a 1968 Polish film directed by Wojciech Jerzy Has. The film is an adaptation of the novel '' The Doll'' by Bolesław Prus, which is regarded by many as one of the finest Polish novels ever written. The influence of Émile Zola is evident, and some have compared the novel to ''Madame Bovary'' by Gustave Flaubert; both were Prus's contemporaries. ''The Hourglass Sanatorium'' ( pl, Sanatorium pod klepsydrą) is a 1973 Polish surrealist film directed by Wojciech Jerzy Has, starring Jan Nowicki, Tadeusz Kondrat, Mieczysław Voit, Halina Kowalska and Gustaw Holoubek. It is also known as ''The Sandglass'' in English-speaking countries. The story follows a young Jewish man who visits his father in a mystical sanatorium where time does not behave normally.
