Tablelands Highway
The Tablelands Highway is a 375 kilometre single lane sealed road in the Northern Territory, Australia. It runs from Barkly Homestead on the Barkly Highway to Cape Crawford near Borroloola on the Carpentaria Highway. Upgrades The Northern Australia Beef Roads Program announced in 2016 included the following project for the Tablelands Highway. Road upgrading The project to upgrade selected sections to a two-lane sealed standard was completed in mid 2020 at a total cost of $25 million. Carpentaria Highway
The Carpentaria Highway is a highway, which runs from near Daly Waters to Borroloola in the Northern Territory, Australia. It is a sealed road and is part of National Highway 1. The Highway takes its name from the Gulf of Carpentaria, which it links with the Stuart Highway. The Carpentaria Highway also provides road access to the McArthur River mineral deposits and port facilities at Bing Bong, as well as the isolated community of Borroloola and the popular fishing location at King Ash Bay. Barkly Highway
The Barkly Highway is a national highway of both Queensland and the Northern Territory in Australia. It is the only sealed road between Queensland and the Northern Territory. Description The highway runs between Cloncurry and the junction with the Stuart Highway north of Tennant Creek, known as the "Threeways". The entire highway is part of the National Highway system: in the Northern Territory it is assigned National Route 66; the Queensland portion is designated as National Route A2. The Northern Territory section has a speed limit of along most of its length. It is the main transport route between Queensland and the Northern Territory, consequently many road trains use it. Mallapunyah
Mallapunyah Springs Station, often referred to as Mallapunyah, is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station in the Northern Territory of Australia. It is situated about south east of Borroloola and south east of Darwin. Mallapunyah Creek runs through the property. Mallapunyah shares a boundary with Walhallow Station to the south, Kiana and McArthur River Stations to the east and the Mambalya Rrumburriya Wuyaliya Aboriginal Land Trust property to the north and west. Both the Tablelands Highway and the Borroloola Stock route bisect the property. The area was settled in the mid-1920s by the George and Elizabeth Darcy. When they initially settled the property George worked away to earn money for the family while Elizabeth built the homestead and the furniture and taught the twelve children. Walhallow Station
Walhallow Station also once known as Walhallow Downs often just referred to as Walhallow is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station in the Northern Territory of Australia. Location It is located about north west of Elliott and north east of Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory. Walhallow shares a boundary to the north with Mallapunyah Station, to the south and east with Cresswell Downs, and to the south and west with Anthony Lagoon. Description Occupying an area of of open plains, mitchell grass downs, coolabah woodland and spinifex desert situated on the Barkly Tableland. Anthony Lagoon
Anthony Lagoon is a cattle station on the Barkly Tableland in the Northern Territory, Australia. It is situated approximately east of Elliott and south of Borroloola. Eva Downs is run as an outstation of Anthony Lagoon and employs a separate manager, but is part of the same operation. Description The station when combined with neighbouring Eva Downs occupies an area of and has a carrying capacity of approximately 60,000 head of Brahman cattle. Cape Crawford is a location in the Northern Territory. Cape Crawford, 100 kilometres south-west of Borroloola in the Northern Territory in Australia, is surrounded by savannah woodland, rock escarpments, waterfalls and waterholes.
