__NOTOC__ Tablelands is a locality in the Northern Territory of Australia located about south-east of the territory capital of Darwin. The locality consists of the following land (from west to east, then north to south): #Banka Banka West pastoral lease # Banka Banka and Bruchilly pastoral leases # Rockhampton Downs pastoral lease and land described as NT Portion 502, and # Brunette Downs pastoral lease, NT Portion 4472, and Alroy Downs and Dalmopre Downs pastoral leases. The locality’s boundaries and name were gazetted on 4 April 2007. Its name is derived from the Barkly Tableland. As of 2020, it has an area of . The Barkly Highway passes from west to east along the southern side of the locality forming part of its southern boundary at its eastern end. Division Of Lingiari
The Division of Lingiari is an Australian electoral division in the Northern Territory that covers the entirety of the territory outside of the Division of Solomon, which covers Darwin and surrounding areas. The division also includes the Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Islands. Lingiari includes all of the Northern Territory's remote Indigenous communities, most of whom vote when visited by mobile polling teams during the election campaign. The current MP is Marion Scrymgour, a member of the Australian Labor Party. Scrymgour herself is Indigenous and inherited Tiwi identity from her mother. 2016 Australian Census
The 2016 Australian census was the 17th national population census held in Australia. The census was officially conducted with effect on Tuesday, 9 August 2016. The total population of the Commonwealth of Australia was counted as – an increase of 8.8 per cent or people over the . Norfolk Island joined the census for the first time in 2016, adding 1,748 to the population. The ABS annual report revealed that $24 million in additional expenses accrued due to the outage on the census website. Barkly Highway
The Barkly Highway is a national highway of both Queensland and the Northern Territory in Australia. It is the only sealed road between Queensland and the Northern Territory. Description The highway runs between Cloncurry and the junction with the Stuart Highway north of Tennant Creek, known as the "Threeways". The entire highway is part of the National Highway system: in the Northern Territory it is assigned National Route 66; the Queensland portion is designated as National Route A2. The Northern Territory section has a speed limit of along most of its length. It is the main transport route between Queensland and the Northern Territory, consequently many road trains use it. Alroy Downs Station is a pastoral lease that operates as a cattle station in Northern Territory. Location The property is situated approximately east of Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory and west of Camooweal in Queensland. Located on the Barkly Tableland a portion of the Playford River flows also through the station as does a portion of Buchanan Creek. It shares a boundary with Brunette Downs Station to the north, Rockhampton Downs to the west, Dalmore Downs to the south and Alexandria Station to the east. Brunette Downs Station, mostly referred to as Brunette Downs, is a pastoral lease operating as a cattle station in the Northern Territory of Australia. Location Brunette Downs Station is located in the Northern Territory about north-east of Tennant Creek, Northern Territory, Tennant Creek and about north west of Camooweal in Queensland. Banka Banka Station
Banka Banka Station is a location in the Northern Territory of Australia, 100 kilometres north of Tennant Creek along the Stuart Highway. The historic cattle station was the first operational pastoral lease in this region, and a supply camp during World War II, providing meat, eggs, fruits and vegetables. It was occupied and run by the Ward family and is still the site of a mudbrick homestead. Historical significance Ward family Philip and Mary Alice Ward bought Banka Banka Station in 1941. Mary supervised the development of an extensive garden at the station. The homestead was a regular stopping place for travellers. In 1945, Philip Ward was among the first to truck cattle by road. After her husband's death in 1959, Mary ran the station. Due to her efforts, a government school for Aborigines openened at Banka Banka in 1961. She was known as "The Missus of Banka Banka." Barkly Region
The Barkly Region, formerly Barkly Shire, is a local government area of the Northern Territory of Australia, administered by the Barkly Regional Council. The region's main town is Tennant Creek.
