Table tennis at the 2010 Commonwealth Games men's singles competition began on 9 October 2010 and concluded on 14 October. Sharath Kamal Achanta was the defending champion but lost to Yang Zi in semi-finals. Yang Zi went on to win the gold medal defeating top seed Gao Ning in final. Sharath Kamal won bronze medal by defeating compatriot Soumyadeep Roy. Liam Benjamin Pitchford (born 12 July 1993) is a British table tennis player. He is sponsored by Victas. Career Pitchford began playing table tennis when he was eight years old. He won the British Home Countries Championship in 2009, and two Commonwealth Games medals in 2010 (Silver in Team and Bronze in Doubles). In the summer of 2011, he transferred to German club TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen in the top division, the Bundesliga, having played for second division club FC Tegernheim the previous season. From 2009 to 2010 Pitchford played for Aarhus BTK in the best Danish league. In July 2014, his contract with Ochsenhausen was extended by three years. Quadri Aruna
Quadri Akinade Aruna (born 9 August 1988, in Oyo, Nigeria) is a professional Nigeria table tennis player. He competed for Nigeria at the 2012 Summer Olympics and 2016 Summer Olympics, reaching the quarter-finals in the latter competition. He is the first African player to be ranked in the top 10 in World Table Tennis. At the World Cup 2014, he reached the quarter-finals in the Men's Singles competition. In the 2017 ITTF World Challenge Bulgaria Open, he advanced to the semi-finals, where he was defeated in a tight match by the eventual winner Dimitrij Ovtcharov.
